The Paramount Serie A crew is doing their best, and I do like some of their on-air personalities. But yes, for some reason the broadcast does not seem to be able to capture the stadium atmosphere/sound. I've always heard how San Siro is a madhouse, but on the stream, it sometimes sounds like the clubs are playing in a closed-door friendly. As for Pulisic, I know it sounds crazy with the way he was playing for most of the season, but I do think there is a justified concern that, even when healthy, Allegri may view him as a sub behind Nkuku and Leao right now. He'll need to get back to creating G/A soon to get back to locked-on starter status. I know he can/will do it, but first he needs to get back to being reliably healthy.
I wonder if the age of the stadiums makes it hard to get great camera positions? It is a chicken and egg thing. They need more money to win more and if they won more especially CL championship more viewership would rise. I'm not sure any league can catch the EPL after their astute marketing a couple of decades ago propelled them to a giant lead. If I had to guess the only league with a chance is actually MLS. It's way behind now but is the only one that can match or exceed the money and stadia. I'm not predicting here and it would take time and perhaps some EPL fair of some top teams financially but I just don't see the other top Euro leagues ever catching up.
The Premier League (and MLS to an extent) also have such a huge advantage because of the proliferation of English proficiency around the world in the internet age. As I'm typing this, as though to emphasize my point, the announcers on the US - Czechia women's hockey game at the Olympics are talking about how the Czech team communicates in English because everyone speaks it. That means that all the content produced in the Premier League, interviews with players and coaches, league-made media, conversation online, is digestible by an enormous amount of people (estimated 1.5 billion English speakers globally as a first or second language). Serie A doesn't have that advantage (66 million Italian speakers). La Liga has it to a degree, but it's more limited than England (~550 million).
The bolded is NUTS to me. If every member of the team can speak Czech, they could give away an advantage when talking strategy by speaking English. But the broader point about English being THE global language is correct. English really benefited from the explosion of the Internet (and other mass media) starting in the 2000s, and the fact that a vast majority of the content was in English. Still, I find it sad if folks who can speak their own native language among themselves instead choose to speak in English for…uh, reasons.
Team has made it clear that the goal is to get back into Champions League. So while it would be frustrating to not win a trophy, that's the goal. Fact that Maignan has been extended is another reason to be excited. Just been a weird year for Milan. Haven't lost a league game since Week 1 but drop way too many points to bad teams. I think something that has become obvious this year is if Allegri is gonna do a 3 5 2 selling Rafa may be the right move. Still capable of moments of brilliance but a lot of Milan's worst performances offensively come from forcing the ball to Rafa.
Playin' Hookey, Watchin' Hockey - Go USA! Christian Pulisic at AC Milan I coulda been a short track speedskater! Christian Pulisic at AC Milan Shuttin' it down, Olympics in town! Christian Pulisic at AC Milan
It defies logic as to why it's so interesting. I have a harder time watching golf, darts and bowling which seemingly require much more skill. Maybe it's because it seems like a sport my buddy and I would make up in junior high (racing golf balls down the indenture in his driveway for rain runoff was surprisingly fun as two golf balls always passed the others).
It's just a perfect Olympic sport. Simple, easy to watch and grasp, and obscure but not gimmicky. The colorful target and stones against the white backdrop is also nice to look at.
It was just a few weeks ago that Pulisic was the "best player in Serie A"... now we have people on here saying that Allegri just thinks he's a sub behind Nkuku. Crazy. Pulisic's downfall are these damn nagging injuries. Super frustrating. It's always surprising to me that some are adamant that he was an awful player for Chelsea. I'll never subscribe to that. He was a great player for them that was taken out by nagging injuries, Tuchel and Chelsea's insane player management approach where they burn through players like no other club on the planet.
I never said that he's bullet-proof, although that might be inferred by my statement. Sorry. I merely meant that glass can be pretty tough. I should have said, he's more like crystal to me: when his game is on, he can play beautifully and make plays a lot of players can't. Unfortunately, like crystal, he is very fragile.
These arguments remind me of the Monty Python sketch where the poets are crediting things to the guy next to him in reference to the king and have to be clever to get out of it.
It is pretty cool to watch the sweeper scoot, slide, turn and hop between the stones when they lead a stone into a crowded house. I don’t know why but I enjoy watching curling.
If only. It seems like a high % of YA player that are important to the USMNT get injured right when their careers enter their peak zones. It has happened to CP on more than a couple of occasions.... Adams too... and we all are tired of recapping the Gio saga. Right when Jedi was starting to be considered as a top LB in the EPL his knee can't hold out. Pepi scoring at a great rate but can't stay healthy. It even happens w/ up-and-comers like Paredes. There are certainly more examples.... both now and in the past. Obviously, part of this has to do with playing more minutes in an increasingly stacked schedule but damn if it doesn't seem like significant YAs spend more time on the injury list than is statistically expected.
With all due respect to the names you mentioned none of them are world glass. To be world glass you have to be good enough to start a CL final AND unlikely to ever be healthy long enough for it to happen.
Well we mostly only notice ours but it happens to others too. Not sure what curse Chelsea put on their players but Mason Mount has had more injuries than Pulisic since both left.
Take these rumors with a grain of salt, but damn Pulisic at Arsenal sounds exciting!! Christian Pulišić Transfer from Milan to Tottenham Hotspur - TransferFeed https://share.google/sKPSw5oVS4tTWQ8Ef
