Pulisic plays again today, at home v Genoa, he likely will start with Leao for the first time in awhile.

While I am looking forward to the game, I am not sure how I feel about them continually trotting him out there with minor issues and with him not 100%. Apparently, the hammy still bothers him from time to time - not something I like to hear in a WC year.

It's Genoa, so they should be able to rest him for the first part of the match and bring him in if they need a goal or two or five! lol

Bigger matches coming up against Fiore (even if they are down bad this year) and Como.

Leao...would drive a lot of coaches crazy. It's like playing with 10.

    What a finish.

    milan-genoa finisce 1-1

    Milan-Genoa ends 1-1

Crazy match, with Milan almost always in the lead after Colombo's opener. Goal disallowed for Pulisic, then Leao equalizes and a superb performance by Leali. In the 99th minute, Stanciu misses a penalty awarded for a foul by Bartesaghi: shot way over the bar.

This is why I am not convinced Milan and make a real push for the Scudetto.

You just can't repeatedly drop points at home against inferior teams, and expect to be champions.

But I hope to be proven wrong by end of season.

It's infuriating, because you sorta have to play Leao, bc he will have 1-2 magic moments and save the day like he did today, but you also have to deal with him being awful for huge parts of the match. I swear, for some stretches, a traffic cone would have been more useful out there. But his elite talent bails him and Milan out.

Pulisic looked great the last 20 min, that was probably a combination of Genoa tiring, the formation change with Fulkrug, and just overall intensity by Milan rising towards the end.

Milan will feel like this was a win with the way things shaked out, but deep down they know they lost easy points. The first half cost them and they were way too lethargic. Like they expected to just show up and be handed the win. I have no idea why they look worse at home, especially against lower teams.

Pulisic almost notched another goal or two, but an amazing GK performance and the inadvertent handball spoiled that.

Christian Pulisic’s left-fist goal called back
Christian Pulisic‘s spirited but futile play in AC Milan’s 1-1 home tie with Genoa included a goal called back by a VAR handball ruling.

Second-place AC Milan’s outing against the 17th-place foe would have been even more embarrassing had Nicolae Stanciu not blasted Genoa’s stoppage-time penalty kick over the crossbar.

Referee Maurizio Mariani did not caution Pulisic for the VAR-reviewed handball, even though the rulebook stipulates a yellow card.

Gazzetta dello Sport on Pulisic: “Like Leão, it’s clear he’s not at his best. And yet he’s always there, even in moments of poor finishing or fatigue: eight shots were not enough to get his name on the scoresheet.” (Gazzetta dello Sport rating: Pulisic 5.5. 1=low; 10=high.)

Dude 100%. CP looked wayyy more energetic in the 2nd half. Even spry. More than the last few matches. Too bad he couldn’t get one of those across. He was beside himself with how his shots were deflected and blocked several times in that half.

Fiorentina 1 Milan 1, FT. Nkuku saves the draw in the final Minutes.

two consecutive bad results for Milan vs lower opposition. They probably confirmed what many of us have suspected, they are not true Scudetto contenders. But plenty of season left, and they are still in the UCL spots.

if you ignore the 2-3 missed chances, Pulisic did well today. But one can’t overlook those early misses, he knows he should have put those away, and the critics will rightfully point it out. I’m hopeful he’ll come out with a vengeance with his next game.

Pulisic always seems just a touch off when returning from injury before honing it in soon after. Like a rifle with the sight a bit off.

I disagree, I believe he is often at his best after a layoff. I think it is because he is rested. I think his lack of finishing is simple reversion to the XG mean as opposed to a lack of focus or sharpness.

Pulisic misses are at the beginning. Are we sure the keeper didn’t get a small touch on the first to throw him off? The ball goes wider than he meant I think.

Very possible De Gea touched it a little to knock it away. But Pulisic still should have shot before that - either side of the net would have been a goal if he unleashed it at the penalty spot.
