The good news: Trump is underwater in immigration, economy and crime. The bad news: voters still trust Republicans more than Democrats in those 3. 1969033935846855119 is not a valid tweet id
Thought this was a good thread on Ezra Klein's recent comments about what should be the Dem strategy going forward. Does seem like some white liberals are very keen to toss several minorities overboard for the fantasy that it might improve their electoral prospects. I would add that if you are a progressive who is willing to cut loose some minority groups the first time things get a bit difficult, you weren't much of a progressive to begin with.
It’s frustrating, because he does an odd thing from time to time that keeps me guessing. Then I listen to an occasional podcast, and am just flabbergasted at how up-ones-own-ass he can be.
Given the theme of this thread, I thought I'd share this article - The blueprint to beat extremism starts local - from the Advocate.
Yeah, he seems to have chosen fame and influence over integrity. <sigh>. He knows that sanewashing Kirk and treating Ryan as an intellectual rather than a 2nd rate follower of conservative libertarianism gets him the best real estate on NYT op ed pages and green rooms. Just had a thought…is he a good example of how gatekeepers in the US have a one sided perspective? Like, how between Kirk and Klein, it’s KLEIN who has to soften his edges to gain high status? (I know I’m making assumptions about what Klein actually believes vs. what he pretends to believe to further his career, but let’s leave aside Klein the person and think of him as an archetype.)
Perfect! Another way to put it is that he wants policy without politics and politics without policy. And that’s impossible.
Obama’s disinterest in turning his massive volunteer base from 2008 into a sturdy, permanent power center is arguably his biggest failure. I like the “strategy not spectacle” line
Him, Yglesias, and the like are people I've never taken seriously for a lot of reasons. I get the feeling Klein wasn't exactly a popular person growing up and Yglesias just strikes me as one of those people who probably repulses a lot of people.
Sadly he does appear to a member of the tribe that is still lost in thr wilderness but trusting the process.
Knicks are the only team he's been a lifelong fan of. Was a Mets fan but now he's seen at the House that Greed Built in Da Bronx.
As someone who was there firsthand, this is simply a bald-faced lie. There were tens of millions of dollars poured into keeping the volunteer base going, and the volunteers just stopped showing up. It is not a badge of honor to misremember the Obama years!!!
