I don’t particularly care whether or not what’s happening is labeled as civil war, and regardless I don’t see it playing out in terms of opposing armies on a battlefield (unless things get much worse and there’s a schism in the military). But ordinary citizens clashing with masked “ICE agents” is the closest I’ve seen to such a thing in my lifetime, and I imagine it will get worse before it gets better. And yeah, I haven’t personally seen that sort of activity in my area yet, but I don’t thus assume it’s not happening.
No, it's indicative of your politics as a defense of your privilege. It's a woman's name. Does Kyle (the male equivalent) sound better?
Well put. I know what my neighborhood looks like. I don't see ICE agents on it because they're looking for Brown people first. They'll start on Black people when they're done rounding up the Brown ones. The two Black people I know and three others I did not know who've died at the hands of police in my metro area since Trump was elected in 2016 did not live in my neighborhood. I somehow find the strength to understand that they could have been snuffed out anywhere, and that my neighborhood will not save me on the day the cops get bored.
Did you listen to Miller's interview of Kristol? If not, skip the ranting part as Miller is a bit out of his mind (and it is a lot of the crap we dealt with this past few days). The interview was interesting.
Also https://abcnews.go.com/US/trump-off...ors-bring-criminal-charges/story?id=125636577 Top Trump administration officials are pressuring federal prosecutors in Virginia to bring charges against New York Attorney General Letitia James for mortgage fraud, And... despite investigators so far failing to find sufficient evidence supporting such charges, according to sources familiar with the investigation. After a five-month investigation and interviews with more than a dozen witnesses, federal prosecutors have so far uncovered no clear evidence that James knowingly made false statements to a financial institution to secure favorable terms on a mortgage for her Virginia home, according to multiple sources briefed on the investigation. Another Black woman. Trump hates Black women.
I think this needs to be looked at from three of perspectives. On one, there is the legacy of Hillary Clinton. Not that she was a bad candidate, but that she had been on the receiving end of Republican hate for 20+ years. Yes, she survived, but she was attacked in a way that no other politician had been attacked in my lifetime (excluding Nixon as I was too young to know). And that has a lasting effect, because she was attacked as much for being a woman as for being a Democrat. The second, is the legacy of Obama. Different from Clinton, he was incredibly successful and likable and charismatic and progressive...and all that while also being a Black man. His just being President brought out the racism I have not seen, again, in my lifetime. Yes, there was a current of racism from the right, always. But they just could not handle Obama being so successful while being Black. And that was tapped into even before Trump announced his candidacy for President. Third, to re-litigate, is the short time Harris had. Yes, there would be some who would not vote for her because she is a woman. And because she is Black. But if she had 12 months to make her case, run though a primary, I think there is a decent shot she would have become President. Would it have actually happened? I'm an optimist, so maybe. But I know others say not. We'll never know. Saying that, there is a mix of the candidate, themselves, and of the policy. One of the things Harris would have been really good at is point out the lies Trump tells. But she, or whomever, would not have been able to crush Trumps charisma. For how ever much he is a retched human, he does have charisma. And it would was going to be a big hill to climb regardless of the candidate. Saying that, unless SCOTUS invalidates the 25th, I think it will be difficult for the Republicans as they have nobody equal in the wings. This is assuming there will be fair elections in 2028.
You think that was directed at you? I've said to you directly that you have privilege and are posting like you have it and don't know it.
You were talking about me, whether it was directed at me or not. Do you really want to keep playing these silly games? I think you're better than this.
Once you start changing, maybe I'll listen. For now, it seems like you want to engage in petty antagonisms, which is kind of boring and tedious...and a little chastising which is frankly off putting. I think you can do better.
In terms of the debate on-line, Democrats are playing checkers, Republicans are playing chess. Trump aligned billionaires are going to buy tik-tok USA. Dems are trying to figure out how to go viral, while Republicans are trying to buy social media platforms. That is how far we are behind.— Rhonda Elaine Foxx (@RhonnieF) September 16, 2025
I have to keep reminding myself that currently when "Chuckie" comes up, it's Kirk and not Schumer being talked about.
