It’s not a fallacy when you say X caused Y and I point out that it didn’t. What’s the fancy foreign phrase for, while correlation doesn’t mean causation, non correlation DEFINITELY doesn’t mean causation?
That’s all well and good but his inaction led to Trump 47, which overwhelms those trivial convictions, which by the way Trump 47 erased via pardons anyway.
But you argument infers that Garland was, overall, a failure. I disagree. The prosecution of Trump was a failure, but Garland also could not predict the future and both didn't know that Trump would win, and that Trump would pardon/commute the way he did. Beyond that, the seditious conspiracy charges were a major win as I recall there being some thinking that they may not get those. And related to Bondi, Garland is a hit. For all his faults, Garland was concerned about following the law. Bondi is about image and politics, not the law.
No. But your passing of judgement is on Garland's lack of prosecution of Trump, and only Trump. As of the AG doesn't have any other responsibilities.
It’s not just China. My wife’s dissertation and two articles have been published in South Korea. Not under her name.
There's also the bomber, a certain supreme Court wife who financed the insurrection, militia leaders, other financiers, lawyers...
Co-sign all of this; also he made an album called “Men With Sticks” that’s just him on soprano sax, and two drummer/percussionists that’s a great listen if you find it.
Well, and I'd say that Biden had an overall responsibility to do something about the coup and the continuing instability that Trump's actions were generating.
For every Pol Pot there's a Pinochet. Can we agree on one thing from the jump? Keynesian Economics is the highest form of Capitalis,. I think ultimately you can't always judge a system by it's adherents, but by its principles. It seems like Capitalism produces men like Musk, Thiel, etc every cycle it goes through. Despite their attempts to make themselves look like good people in history Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, Carnegie were not good people. Our group we are dealing with might very well be the worst because the robber barons of old had enough sense to build some public works and put their name on them. This generation has stolen even more wealth from the public and has zero inclination to try and offset the theft. Was not Dick Cheney responsible for the deaths of millions? And did not Kamala Harris pay tribute when he passed? Our system is just a little more clever about exporting the deaths to far off places. It's out of sight and out of mind. Dick Cheney didn't fight those wars to benefit the American people. Those wars were fought like all wars are fought--->to benefit the few. I think a system that flattens power and focuses on incentivizing different types of behavior (social welfare, common good) would be better than one that seems to routinely reward psychopaths that make their money no matter the cost. Zuckerberg ruined a whole generation's mental health with a product designed specifically to hijack people's brains and he restricts his kid's use. He's a drug dealer that won't let his own sample the drugs. It's logic kind of falls apart on itself. If human nature is to be wicked, why would you design a system that rewards the most wicked with the biggest prize? That seems to be counter-productive. As we are seeing with the Files roll out, we are seeing that the failures are complete and compromise both sides of the aisle. Without Thomas Massey (one of the few politicians who takes zero money from Israeli groups. A relevant fact given Epstein's ties to Mossad that have been coming out) do we ever get close to these files coming out? As a socialist, I have had less cognitive dissonance this week about why the files weren't being released by the Biden Administration than many on this board. Socialism if its principles are adhered to correctly present a better situation for the majority of the people living within society. Don't hate the Christian, love Jesus Christ (and not Paul). Unchecked Capitalism will always result in a system crash. 80 years ago we had WWII, another 80 and you have the Civil War, another 80 and you get to the Revolution, go another 80 and you have the Glorious Revolution with William and Mary, and finally do it one last time and you get the 30 Years War. It's almost like there are inherent contradictions that transcend technological advancement. Maybe it's time to try something different. Something more sustainable. Something that isn't going to heat up the planet and make it unlivable. Capitalism as it stands doesn't exactly look like it's up to that task.
Just as I suggested and feared, the dipshits did their dipshittery to save the filibuster! https://talkingpointsmemo.com/where-things-stand/its-a-big-club-and-you-aint-in-it Stupid dipshits!
FWIW, John Judis wrote this week that polling was starting to go against Democrats. Now, I have several different objections to that line of thinking, starting with false certainty that comes from basing your politics in a 4 point swing in polls. But I just thought I’d share that nugget.
So they take this as far as they can take it, end it in a way that puts the blame on Republicans, and then they hit Trump with the Epstein stuff. The common wisdom goes from "both parties are lame" to "the pedophiles running this nation are ruining it". This just makes Democratic leadership look better to me.
@superdave is referring to this: https://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/the-8-dissenters-did-democrats-a-favor And this poll: https://today.yougov.com/politics/articles/53352-are-people-changing-their-minds-about-the-shutdown I found Judis's take to be a little too contrarian, especially when based on a single data point. A single data point is not a trend.
I’ll just put this here. https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/fetterman-hospitalized-fall-near-pennsylvania-181807058.html Fetterman fell on his face. Heart problems. Not good. edit: oh. @Val put it in the right place. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/the-senate.657646/page-104#post-43329491
