So am I getting this right that everyone must hear arms, go into the street, and protest like hell to overthrow the people****ile cabal running our country? No other option?
No, just the 60-75 of us on these boards. We have a special responsibility conferred upon us by the conceited wichtigtuer.
If you believe, as I do, that the US is no longer a democracy, then sustained nonviolent protest is the only way to convince Democrats in Congress, billionaires and business leaders, religious leaders, the military, and other elites to abandon their own support for authoritarianism. Nowhere have I said you have to bear arms. Your special kind of stupidity is also very selfish. I have been very clear that the whole country needs to do more.
It’s amazing how you inbred fucks that hate Hispanics think being bilingual is like some sort of sorcery.— Comedy of Things (@ComedyOfThings) March 7, 2026
Because the alternative is you're attacking the other posters making the same argument as me and I don't think it's fair for you to go after them too.
I can read English, German and American. I should be able to understand Latin, but... I have a good chance understanding Dutch soccer articles but there hasn't been much of a necessity so far.
You think those elites will be swayed without arms? Oh bless your heart. Though I will give you this: if we do put boots on the ground in Iran (which almost looks like a certainly) massive protests here will be incredibly destabilizing. The Army isn't big enough to maintain order across the US in the best of times and the meat grinder that Iran will be will make that worse. Just saying this summer could be super spicy. As for me, I'll pass on the protesting so I can keep doing my part elsewhere.
Three things: 1) Why are Democrats still showing up to work like business is usual? The war is illegal. They should be taking a leaf out of South Korea's book. 2) If force of arms is used the country will collapse into dictatorship. That's just how it works. 3) There's a great movie about the (fictional) Long Walk from a Siberian camp to India. One prisoner played by Mark Strong keeps stalling the escape day with an unending list of "ifs" and "buts." He's not a frog boiling in water, he knows he will likely die in prison. But even Stalin's gulag became comfortable. So he tolerated it. Stop being that guy. If what is happening now won't make you protest or flee, troops in Iran this summer won't either.
Let me put it another way. With Thomas Massie, House Democrats can end the war by refusing the $50 billion supplemental funding bill. How do Democratic voters stop House Dems from voting "yea"?
If that's the movie I'm thinking of, one with Colin Farrell if I remember correctly, it is very good.
No, I am telling the truth. Across several threads many of you have said you are doing what is necessary. Your kind of stupidity is special because of its selfishness. I've been very clear everyone in the US needs to do more.
Theoretically, its possible that a few targeted upper extremity amputations might cause a few elites to wonder if they backed the wrong horse.
My plot is to keep enough people alive for the After All This. Not everyone can do that but I can. And if there are other things I can do along the way I will.
