Mamdani and Newsom (more comically) standing up to Cheeto is playing out better than ICs think

When Trump threatens to nix funding to NYC if Zohran Mamdani wins, it only helps Zohran. It inflates the Trump threat, positions Zohran as a fighter for NYC against Trump, and pushes Cuomo into the role of Trump stooge.

There's a lesson here for Dems.

This is what should be put out there. I am probably similar, though my state page didn't load this morning and I've been running around the rest of the day.

This is a Poll of people that voted for Biden in 2020 and then did not vote in 2024.

Who do you see the most?

Sorry about the potato quality chart. It's a screenshot of potato quality video. But the point should be very clear:

    Screenshot 2025-10-05 at 13-18-58.png

This is new voter registrations in California over the period denoted in the graphic.

For comparison, this is what overall registration looked like in California on November 4, 2024:

    45% - Dem
    25% - Rep
    22% - No Party Preference
    7% - Other

Here's the percentages for the new registrations:

    0.1% - Dem
    30% - Rep
    52% - No Party Preference
    18% - Other

Here's how I read this: This is after an election. So there are no major voter registration drives going on. That means most of these will be young voters who are registering for the first time. The Dems aren't losing many new voters to the GOP in California, but the GOP is out-performing their usual 25% registration by 5%. I'll credit that to better performance with young men. But the Dems are hemorrhaging new voters to Other and to No Party Preference -- in California.

That's how damaged the Democratic brand is today.

Well..... at this point, it is universally accepted....

“Mallory McMorrow, the Michigan Democrat running in a three-way primary to replace retiring Sen. Gary Peters, has shifted her stance on the war in Gaza and now believes it is a genocide,” Politico reports.

Context further tying this to recent events:Three members of SCOTUS were part of Bush/GOP’s legal team. Two more voted for Bush as sitting justices.

Credit where credit is due: kudos to the Dems for sticking to their messaging regarding the shit down and ACA subsidies. I was critical of this approach.

Im not sure the mainstream media’s strategy of making this shutdown a minor story while carrying water for the GOP is sustainable

Hakeem offered to argue the shutdown with Liddle Mikey on national TV & Mikey wussed out.

Also seeing messaging calling it the Epstein Shutdown.

OK, Olds. Here's what one Lib streamer is up to. Also happens to be Cenk Ugyur's nephew:

Piker has no filter. That’s one reason he’s the hottest left-wing political commentator online. His “management team” consists of a single guy named David, so he basically has no leash and answers to no one. Every day, tens of thousands of people watch him dissect the news for seven hours on Twitch. A typical stream involves him scrolling frenetically while clicking on links sent by fans in his chat, reacting to the latest viral clips and headlines, dishing with his viewers, and viciously sparring with haters. “America deserved 9/11” is one of his most infamous wisecracks; when Rush Limbaugh died, Piker played a clip of a dancing crab in celebration and vigorously bounced around his room. Piker’s one of a new breed of streamers, like Adin Ross and Sneako, who are shaping the worldview of kids who never watch MSNBC or read The New York Times. In this online mirror world, Piker is the “himbo gateway drug” introducing a legion of kids to progressive ideals like Medicare for All.

And then there’s Gaza. Young people across America are calling out what they see as Democratic politicians’ complicity in a US-backed war that is more and more widely being called a genocide, as Palestinians starve. (Republican support of the war has been taken as a given, although MAGA congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has broken rank.) Piker has opposed Israel’s offensive since the start. It’s the online arena where the most progressive but also most-right-wing ideologies are taking hold now. In this unshackled world animated by constant beefs, Hasan is hated by both the right and center. He’s a demigod and a demon, a crusader for good and a parasite on society, an empathetic hero and a so-called terrorist sympathizer. He claims the FBI might be surveilling him. Haters say they want him dead. As political experts sound alarms about authoritarianism, he’s fighting back, one expletive and brain rot–filled livestream at a time.

He is related to Cenk and he has been at odds with his uncle on several issues. Hasan is a leftist. He plays games, talks politics, and has no problem shit posting his fans and they seem to enjoy it. He does indeed review the news.

As for his claims about the FBI...eh wouldn't surprise me but could be BS. He has been stopped at the border at least once. His style isn't my vibe but I generally agree with his politics.

Hasan Piker is a scumbag. Abuses his dog, thought January 6th was funny and deserved more, and even said the US deserved 9/11.

    Again, he sucks.

I really only know of the guy because when the "Rogan of the Left" discussion was ongoing, I saw some people put forward his name. :D
