Sweet. If corporations are going to be treated like people then they should get the full 360-degree experience, including accountability for their actions. Let them learn that getting in bed with the government is a two-way street.
If Democrats are going to win they by definition have to convert Trump voters. And they do it by doing what Trump did - show confidence and have a mission.
FYP Haven't you heard? Democrats are so passé. It's the dawn of new era in US politics. ¡Viva la Revolución!
Left wing economic populists, sure. Lots of evidence that voters voted for Trump for sexists and racists reasons.
For good not evil, right? In that case most Trumpers are lost causes and it'd be better to focus on ICs.
So that's what I get for asking? You're giving me snide, mocking looks through your stylish new spectacles? Oh well, I'm not in the in-crowd I guess.
Don’t worry, you’re not alone. I think it means antiquated old Democrats who are skeptical about the bold new socialist movement sweeping the country.
Nah, you didn't talk to inbred, raw hot dog eatin' yokels in Cow Hampshite. Those are the ones who always choose the next president. Independent Centrists. In other words, people who didn't want to admit to being a Repug, back when shame and embarrassment were still a thing.
There was a poster wayyyyyyyyyy back who was extremely right wing but denied any charges of partisanship, saying he was objective. He called himself an independent centrist. When the wheels came off the economy during the second term of Bush II, he left the forum and was never seen again. I never use the term, not because I thought it was too inside-jokey, but because I’ve seen the movie Candy Man.
New York doesn’t have a runoff if no candidate gets a majority, right? It’s pretty easy to imagine 7-8 serious candidates splitting the vote such that 25% wins it. Every Democratic representative would at least consider running, as would Hochul and maybe Cuomo and Adams.
No mocking. I was excited to see the responses. I thought there’d be a bunch of silly answers, but @Dr. Wankler nailed it. I wasn’t super active on these boards when it was coined, so I didn’t think it my place to answer.
But lots of people that voted for Trump aren't Trumpers. All they know is they wanted a change and one person running appeared super confident that he could fix everything (by literally saying "I can fix everything") so they chose him. Sure Trump is polling poorly now, but that alone isn't enough to guarantee a Democrat win. Not even after the AI bubble pops and everyone is poor. The Democrats still need a vision.
It's really a one way street. Specifically, the government driving the wrong way down a one-way street that also happens to be the corporation's Hershey Highway.
No sure why only one quote shows up above. I quoted both. Or maybe it's just showing up this way for me. Maybe I need more sleep.
Well that, JV Vance if he's the MAGA candidate and the Trump stank will give Democrats a bigly head start
I like the optimism you all have about upcoming elections being free and fair. I don't share the optimism, but appreciate that others have it.
Maybe I am naive. But we forget that TrumpCo fails a lot in court. Marc Elias is one patriot who challenges Trump's election shenanigans all over the country. https://elias.law/about/
It's often overlooked that a large plurality of voters did not want a rerun of Biden vs Trump - that match up was the choice of Joe himself, and the small percentage of people who vote in GOP primaries
I'm guessing that if virtually every registered Republican voted, we'd still have the orange Hitler-loving felon as the GOP nominee. He embodies their values.
