If you put yourself up to this movie, as a warning you will have to hear ManUre be mentioned several times. Also in background is a game of theirs and RVN name gets mentioned. I was totally unprepared, I shuddered horribly and could not control my involuntary booing. The only good thing is that the ManUre fans in the movie die!
Arsenal win the Champions League at the end of the movie. Hell had frozen over by this time... of course.
I would rate it as a rentor at best, not really worth seeing imho. Basically the movie to me was Jurrasic Park, but substitue weather for the dinosaurs, and lets be honest without the dinosaurs Jurrasic park does not have much. Still, better than Van Helsing! Supposedly ManUre was playing Celtic in the Champions league per the movie, but I could not confirm the footage, you only see it briefly and on a tv.
I had a similar experience when I saw the musical "Mama Mia" (really, the wife made me go....honest...I swear.... ). There's one part where one of the "dads" mentions having season tickets to Chelsea. I groaned loud enough for several people around me to hear and stare. Got a quick elbow in the ribs from my wife for that one.
Funny . . . I watched the movie this past weekend (in Toronto) and had to bite my lip from booing. There was another Gunner (wearing a Home 2001/02 Dreamcast Jersey) in the theatre as well. Oh well, based on the pictures from Ocean's 12 recently, Arsenal has some product placement in a movie too. I just hope Clooney and Pitt aren't planning to steal the French Contingent at Arsenal! I just watched Ocean's 11 again last night (the Clooney one) - great flick. As for TDAT, I thought it was quite entertaining albeit everyone thinks the North is Toast again . . . good summer flick from the guys that brought you Independence Day. Pretty much the same movie except the "bad guy" is Mother Nature (well, really indirectly us . . .).
It's funny you can hear the commentary when RVN scores: "well he got a quite a break there, it came right back to him and all he did was put it in the net" TYPICAL
Was one of the mentions on the eve of the Tottenham game, a Man u fan saying " The day after tomorrow, we won't be champions " ?
I saw it too and actually booed when Man Utd were mentioned. Good thing I was wearing my Arsenal shirt in the theater so it would serve as a reminder to the audience who the best side in England is. Motterman, good joke...you actually got a chuckle out of me. Well, at least we'll be all over the Ocean's 11 sequel.
