I don't know if there are any other fans of the Dandy Warhols out there, but they have a new album called 'Welcome To The Monkeyhouse' coming out in May in Europe and in July in North America. Guests on the album include Simon LeBon (backup vox on the track 'Plan A'), Nile Rodgers, and Nick Rhodes. Tony Visconti and Nick Rhodes also have production credits for this disc. The video for the first single, 'We Used To Be Friends' can be found here: http://www.dandywarhols.com/video/used2bfriends.html. Copies of the album are on the net. I got mine off of alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.indie. I've also heard that it's on Soulseek.
I'll probably grab it when it comes out in July. Have you seen them live--I personally have not. If so, would you rate them as better live on in the studio? "Thirteen Tales..." is phenomenal.
They are pretty good live. "Bohemian Like You" is easily one of my favorite popsongs ever. Visconti told me a few months ago that his sessions with the Dandys were pretty productive, and since they are such Bowie-philes, he thinks they hired him just to hear him tell stories rather than handle production! I'm anxious to hear this new stuff.
agreed. i lost that cd (and 11 others) when my car was stolen last year. dam union county riff raff. thirteen tales is one of two that i have yet to replace. i've been looking at the used racks to see if i can pick up a cheap one.
You gotta love a band that has the singer from Duran Duran make a guest appearance. I've never heard of them, but I'm open to lots of stuff.
Yes, they are definitely good live. Though I will miss Zia's pre-marriage days when she used to perform a few numbers topless. I agree. I also think "Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth" is brilliant too. It wouldn't surprise me.
