The Red Sox let Babe Ruth go and they're still selling "Boston Red Sox World Champions 1918" t-shirts.

I can't help but think KC has made the same mistake in losing Brandon Prideaux. I can see t-shirts in 2084 "KC Wizards MLS Champions 2000"

There still is time to save us from this dreadful fate. We must get Prideaux back!

You mean the blessing of Scott Vermillion?

I know you folks think I'm joking or delusional, but soccer historians will view the Prideaux trade as a turning point in American soccer history. There still is time to rectify this colassal blunder. We must bring Brandon back to KC. While there still is time.

How about the curse of Chris Henderson?

Yeah KC was awesome last year with Prideaux. Don't forget how awesome DC did with Prideaux this year. We got either Talley or Armstrong for Prideaux, both are upgrades.

Yet no one has matched the performance of Henderson.

Look how good the DC Defense was with Prideaux!!!! DC's problem was they couldn't score. Prideaux is like Maldini in his prime. I almost feel sorry that he played in KC instead of, say, Chicago. Had he got the publicity, he would be starting for AC Milan. Nevertheless, the crucial error was letting this maestro go. It will be a trade that goes down in infamy.

Remember, you heard it here FIRST. When you tell your great grandchildren of "The Curse of Prideaux" don't forget who came up with it.

Prideaux Vermes Garcia Meola: A modern day FOUR HORSEMAN. How could you break up this team????

I just hope SOMEBODY is listening. We still can get Prideaux back. Have faith!

Ok, I called you delusional in the other thread. But this comparison is just plain ridiculous.

I have seen both of these players live, not on your (must be) broken tv.

Maldini (now past his prime) was one of the best defenders in the world in his prime. As I said before, Prideaux is a nice guy. But come on, you're joking, right??

Perhaps a slight exaggeration, but losing BP was a monumental error. He's a very good player. Definitely good enough for Serie A.

You should see his posts on Clint Mathis.

As Steve Dubois said at one of the DC games "Brandon we traded you in for a newer, shinier model." Not quite in the top echelon of CJ Brown taunting, but excellent nonetheless.

Um, my posts on Clint are 100% accurate. I would stand by everyone (I think, there could be a couple hyperbolic ones). Clint's USA stats are utterly superior. Clint has been a truly world class player, though his Metrostars performance this year was mediocre for a variety of reasons.

Clint has been World Class for the USA. Totally amazing. A goal or assist per 90 minutes. Mind-boggling! So, as far as Clint goes, consider it completely serious.

Last year Prideaux was a liabitly. I can't even count the times he got burnt. CJ made the right decision when we traded him away. You truly are dillusional. I think that DC's sucsess in defense comes from a national team player by the name of Pope.

I heard that. I wish I would have gotten the chance to talk to him.

He was always a great guy.

Prideaux is a excellent player. We need him back or the CURSE will continue.

Dude, you're out of your mind.

Prideaux was quality... but he wasn't the link that won us the championship.

The championship that year was won by 4 guys: Meola, Hendo, Molnar, and Mo Johnston and his heart.

Like the Wizards in 2000, the defense was a full team effort helped out with some outstanding goalkeeping. To say it's all Pope ignores the contributions of Nelsen - toughness and the vocal leadership that Pope has never displayed, Reyes - the baddest MF this side of Shaft, and Prideaux.

What I like about Prideaux is that he reads the passing lane better than anyone else in the league. Next season watch how many times he quickly steps in and prevents a through ball from finding its mark.

As I said before, we needed SuperMeola, Molnar, and Prideaux.

But, hey, stop being confrontational. I'm trying to save the Wizards. I'm trying to erase the Curse of Prideaux. We have maybe one year or two to erase it or we could be doomed.

He's one of the top defenders in the world. You guys think he sucks??? You must be kidding. He almost single handedly got DC United in the playoffs. Time is running out. We must start an e-mail campaign. We must demand the Return of Prideaux. Do something, do anything, but get moving on it. Trust me here!

The courtesy is puff, puff, give... Not puff, puff, keep...

Please share whatever it is you're smoking to give you the delusion that Brandon Prideaux is the answer to KC's problems from this season. The first answer to KC's problems is a good striker. The second is a healthy defensive unit that doesn't have Meola jetting off to ride the pine pony in K/J for a month in the middle of the season.

If we have better scoring, we don't lose as many games, and our defensive unit has more confidence. If our defensive unit stays healthy and united, our lack of scoring doesn't matter as much, we don't lose the games we bunker.

Simple solutions to a simple problem.

    Dave:

You're right, the whole back four contributed for DC. Reyes completely shut down Klein in the match at RFK, more so than any other defender I have ever seen. He is quality.

We all know how good Pope is. But BenReilly comparing Prideaux to Maldini and saying he could play in Serie A, this guy has no clue about the game, and continues to demonstrate it with each post he makes.
