!!!!!!!!!!!!It's time!!!!!!!!!!! The FA Community Shield Matchday: The FA Community Shield Teams: Chel$ea vs The Arsenal Venue: New Wembley Kickoff: 10 A.M Eastern Broadcast: Fox Sports 1 Well gents, football is back! I'm going to keep it brief. The Arsenal is coming off their best preseason in recent memories and is in absolutely fine form. Perhaps even midseason form if performances like that of against OL continue. In fact, almost every player in the squad is firing on all cylinders. Reinforced by the legend Petr Cech, the squad is looking as complete and strong as ever. Team cohesion is at a high, and the group is filled with the confidence that this is their year. Things are looking up! Chelsea, well....Chelsea lost the the Red Bulls USL team, and frankly, why waste time analyzing their squad. Not worth it My 11: ----------------Walcott---------------- Chambo--------Ozil------Wilshere --------------Coq---Rambo---------- Monreal---Koz--Mert--Bellerin ------------------Cech--------------- Let's go!!!
Let's get our third cup in a row this Summer! Slight change in your suggested Line up. ------------Giroud---------------- Chambo--------Ozil------Ramsey -----------Santi---Coq------------ Monreal---Koz--Mert--Bellerin ------------------Cech---------------
I'm not too concerned with the result of the community shield but do agree with the form we've shown so far. Another slow, injury plagued start to the season would be completely unacceptable this season.
BTW, Foo, you forgot to mention to all of us that the match is on Sunday August 2nd, I was looking for it on Fox Sports 1 just now thinking that I missed most of it by now, and I got the CONCACAF Gold Cup instead. COYF'n'G!!!
Wenger's first ever victory against Mou would surely be a certain statement of intent for the upcoming season. He hasn't beaten him ever. No time like the present.
I've been thinking it's a can't lose prop for us. We beat Mou, we get the monkey off our back and lay down a marker for the real competitions. We don't? Just a friendly. Nothing to see here.
I do like Nacho Monreal at LB, he was great for us during our stretch-run towards finishing third (and almost 2nd) last season as he shut down any chances opponents had at being able to go down that left side, he was an absolute wall for us. But, at least Arsene Wenger didn't put in Calum Chambers, idk what it is with me, but I still get visions of Jefferson Montero (of Swansea City) making him look bad in that match at Liberty Stadium in Swansea back in December in which he scored two goals against us (we lost) and really opened Chambers up.
The summer has flown by, even with minimal activity to keep us busy. As much I want us to beat Chelsea, I want us to avoid injuries more. We don't want to start this season like the last one and pick up a few long term injuries right off the bat. If we win - awesome, we can rub it in Mourinho's face and it gives us a boost to start the season, if we don't - its just a friendly and no one cares about the result.
My guess is an Arsenal win so that Wenger can finally beat Mourinho but Mourinho can say that the game means nothing and how Wenger still hasn't beaten him in a league or cup match. 2-1 to le arse.
This game has ET and Penos written all over it. Classic Charity shield match with Jacky Boy scoring the winner Viera style.
focus on defending and prioritize a clean sheet, even if we lose on penalties. be good practice for the season ahead.
By the way, Chavs are playing Barfa tonight in the US. I wonder how that will affect the lineup for Sunday, given travel times and react reacclimatiom to the time zone? And Fabregas called the Barfa front three the best attacking trio ever.
Wouldn't it be tragic if Chelsea lost some of their key players to long term nagging injuries? Nothing bad for the players, but some hamstrings that take a few months to heal, etc. Arsenal stuff.
