I did fail to mention ownership. I thought that was wrapped up in front office, but I should have written: We have improved in ownership, coaching and front office. One year ago, I was super optimistic. With the pandemic, I should be still.
Chicago Fire to Announce Another Rebrand https://theathletic.com/2205425/202...other-logo-redesign-according-to-sources/?amp
Please don't mess this up, powers that be. Can someone tell them to ditch the FC crap? We are not da Bears.
they should do a fan contest because there some really good ones that came out of graphic design enthusiasts taking a crack at last time around
I agree in principle that the most invested fans should have a voice in the process, but I don't trust the general sports fan not to muck it up and then walk away. We were told that focus groups were conducted on the Nov 2019 rebrand and look what that got us.
Why? The sport is called soccer here. Football is the sport in which the Packers kick the holy hell out of the Bears on a yearly basis. Not to mention there are already 47 FCs in this league that don't even realize what MLS stands for.
Obviously they need to get this re-rebrand correct in a way that they failed to last year. Knowing that, and given COVID restrictions, if I were the Fire, I'd forgo any attempt at a big unveiling and just be plainly transparent about the process and the options in order to arrive at something that is generally acceptable to the most fans. The worst outcome would be to rush a relaunch for something that has been worked on in secret (again) with limited supporter feedback. If the team has learned anything in the past few years it should be that they aren't the smartest guys in the room.
I just hope that they get this redesign right. Chicago could help bring this league to the mainstream quicker. The problem now is that any new design will get railed against just to be negative. I sincerely hope Chicago fans embrace it even if it comes out sub-par(looking at you St. Louis).
The crossed axes would be great, but I'm not sure if there would be any copyright issues with West Ham.
by fan contest, I meant more for gathering submissions, not necessarily a fan vote -- perhaps a fan vote element to the decision all of these are better than where it ended up, even the ones that hamstrung themselves by including the oval and/or the crown https://www.reddit.com/r/chicagofire/comments/e6ix0q/alternative_crest_designs_megathread/ I'm anti-oval -- looks like it's a circle that's been stretched in most small graphic settings
The famous "Double Axe" handles of West Axe United. Forever chopping bubbles. (by the way, West Axe United would be a pretty cool team name)
