It’s like they said “can we make the Fire’s 2015-2016 secondary kits even more boring?”, and when someone came back with the Fire’s 2010-2011 secondary kits they said “close, but more boring than even that” and finally ended up with this. Like, I’ll probably end up with this year’s primary in my closet at some point, because I’m a dope that loves this stupid team, but I wouldn’t wear this jersey if the team gave it to me for free.
I'm sure there was just come confusion. That isn't the second uniform. It is a specialty third uniform to honor the white party. The real second should be leaking any day.
Greatest "Freudian slip" typo of the year. Well done, @SixKick! Even with the "confusion," at least the "stains" will not show on the jersey.
@Brian in Boston any idea what it would cost Mansueto to get these made after the Adidas deadline had passed?[/QUOTE] There's little doubt in my mind that Mansueto-and-Company missed the deadline to have bespoke uniforms designed and produced for the 2020 season. As a result, it appears that they've had to settle for applying the new team badge, the new league-wide alphanumeric font, and the sponsor logo onto a basic Adidas product/template. For instance, this white change kit that's been leaked looks like something akin to the Adidas Tabela 18. This represents as low-cost a solution as the league and team could hope for this season.
I thought I had posted this in the roster thread but looks like I didn’t. Also dodger that I said this
https://www.google.com/search?q=mls...F-8#sie=lg;/g/11fnwgjk4q;2;/m/0jfpf;mt;fp;1;; Google MLS page still using the old logo.
I hope they keep it up. I also hope Bigsoccer doesn't change it. This is one of the few refuges, I can go to read about the Fire without my eyes being assaulted by that abomination (other than those posters who have chosen to embrace it with their avatar, but to each his own).
Everyone understands that this "CFFC" thing is intended as a fudge that retains the "Chicago Fire" name while trying to fight back against the search engine optimization problems with the Chicago Fire TV show, right? It strikes me as too clever by half, but it has a purpose.
For sure - I think they'd be dumb to keep the name 'Fire' and not try to get around its problems from an SEO perspective. But wouldn't CF97 have accomplished the same thing or am I missing something?
You're not missing anything. An official name of "Chicago Fire 97" would have been a bit clumsy and run into some of the same europoseur stuff, but you could do it. I know Dick Wolf shows are as indestructible as cockroaches and Keith Richards, but at the end of the day, the team ought to have confidence that they will outlast the TV show.
Well, yeah- I'm not even really talking about incorporating the year into the official name, just thinking that leveraging the existing cf97 abbreviation would've helped divert searches from the TV show just as well. I'm not even sure if the team was using the hashtag or if it was just the fanbase, but I was a little surprised to see the CFFC stuff in its place.
Yes, CF97 would not be confused with anything (unless "Carl Franklin", born 1997, objects) It is, however, a stupid ass name.
Yeah, just... it's... not a name though ...? No more so than CFFC is a name, at least. I don't see why the team couldn't have done the stupid-ass Chicago Fire FC 'rebrand' and used CF97 as an abbreviation, if it was just a question of SEO.
It seemed as though your suggestion was the Chicago Fire adopt that as their name, rather than Chicago Fire (FC). If so, CF97 is a stupid ass name. If not, your comment does not make sense. CFFC is f'n stupid, as well. Chicago Fire (FC) is stupid, but not as bad as CF97 or CFFC.
