    Good Bye Eddie... hello Edson

Eddie Gaven was traded for edson Buddle and they swap first rounders with us getting 3rd pick in 1st round and them the 5th. I don't like this move but wish eddie the best as one day he will be National team star.

I really like Gaven, but he needed a change. I've always wanted the Westchester kid in the red and black!

This move will work well for all parties involved.

And it makes you question if Gaven was among the immature on the ride home from Foxboro. MoJo clearly wanted him out.

Honestly, he was the first guy who popped into my mind.

    We also swapped draft picks?

Mother********er, I'm sick of getting betdown on trades with Columbus

Gaven, I'm convinced that he's the real deal but in a way it will be a relief to not balance expectation and patience this year. For the sake of his career I hope Sigi gets the kid a lot of extra time with a strength/fitness coach and a few sessions with a shrink too. (Eddie's gotta believe in Eddie.)

Beyond that though, I'm just not sold on the Buddle arrival. Is anyone really jazzed about him at this point?

more then i am about a gaven return, to be honest.

we've seen plenty of metro teams be awesome on paper...

mo is the first coach of his kind to run the ship....i'm more excited about that then any player acquisition.

Now that we have a scottish coach - are we looking at an era of the (often) scottish maxim of "you don't win anything with kids"

While perhaps true elsewhere - the situation in america is that due to financial issues, we have lots of talented kids playing above their salary, but cannot afford a team of talented adults.

No. I'm in agreement here. Mo is certainly a man of action and I feel good about the general trend. I'm just not sold on Buddle specifically. But then, he's certainly done very good things IN THIS LEAGUE before so... perhaps the benefit of the doubt is warranted.

i honestly think we'll have, for the first time (except maybe quieroz)...a leader off the field in mo.

Did we or did we not switch draft picks as well?

    I guess not?

    I'm so frickin confused now

Goats on the clock with our old pick. It was a 1st round swap and a player to be determined.

A carpet rolling Gavin for a somewhat injury prone Buddle...................... Fair trade, I'll take it.

Yeah, I gotta wonder if this fell through at the last minute since the picks weren't swapped.

I agree. Gaven lost alot of luster last year. He is too weak on the ball.

The last thing Gaven needs is a psyco-babble analysis from big soccer "experts" and media morons. What Gaven needs more is for the lemmings to stop thinking that 8 goals and 4 assists from the right midfield position is a "bad" or "subpar" season for an 18 year old in his second full season of pro soccer. Gaven scored almost the same number of goals as Buddle despite being a midfielder and 5 years younger.

Would seem to me it wasn't official at all since this deal never went through as far as I can tell.

Probably will be announced tomorrow, why would Columbus use their first 2 picks on forwards if Buddle wasn't leaving?

Well, the draft pick swap certainly didn't happen. Kind of raises some doubts about the other parts of the official trade.

I wonder if the same sources were responsible for the EJ-Guevarra trade "news" which has suddenly disappeared from sight.

Buddle may be leaving, but the question remains: where will he be going?
