Isn't it a bit annoying that we can't wear our team's jersey because the supporters wear a different color? I suppose there isn't any turning back, and the red does look very good and it fits.

America did wear red at some points, right? I remember the red verticle stripes in the 94 World Cup, but was there ever a solid red kit? Is it available? If not I'll do the tshirt thing.

Then again just wearing tshirts gives us the opportunity to have customized shirts for supporters groups and such, which is cool.

i don't think it would be a sin if you wear the blue or white national team shirt with a red scarf or flag around you. having said that even though i have both of those just bought a red dry fit t-shirt

At US games, I wear whatever US shirt (jersey or T-shirt) is clean. SO sometimes it'll be navy blue, red or white.

I wear red because that's what is recommended, but I wish our jerseys were red, so I could wear that to the games and not feel out of place with the US supporters.

    Gioca,

Our boys used to have a solid red top/navy shorts and navy socks for the away kit in France '98 (great jersey but bad memories of their play in it)and from 2000 to around March of '02 the lads had a solod red top before Nike produced the jersey that we all saw during the Mundial. For older tops check out Ebay amigo.

IMHO opinion I wish the red top was still kept for special Nats matches. As a Southerner I would like the USSF to use the red top/navy shorts/socks for the VERY RARE international match in a southern state.
No politics here compadres but after all we know what its like to be defeated by the Stars and Stripes and the red jersey could be symbolic of what cost those men on both sides endured when asked to kill their brothers. No fight is more intense that between siblings.
Also the USSF should break out the red top when we host the Ticos in the home leg of World Cup Qualifying. I was at Arrowhead in April of '01 and we all had red on which is the Ticos choice color for their #1 top. I can only speculate that the red infused atmosphere doesn't have the same desired effect when the opponent is wearing that color over their hearts.
Thus, the USSF should be wise this when Costa Rica comes acallin'! Break out the special reds. Make the Ticos wear their alternate white and hold this match in Houston or Birmingham and get two birds with one stone.

I always hated the red shirt idea. I always wondered if the real reason our supporter groups chose red was because they were such England wannabe's and England has a red shirt. I always wear blue or white. I also always wondered why Nike, knowing that most US fans wear red, wouldn't put out some type of red shirt or whatever. You would have to figure that they would sell better than any other US products they have.

I would totally prefer to wear a blue jersey, but I choose to fall in with the rest of the red wearers, because I'd rather be a part of that than do something on my own. I guess since both colors are part of the flag, I suppose we have the option of choosing either of them. I prefer blue, but it isn't a huge deal to me and I'd rather wear what everyone else is.

And don't England fans usually wear white?

That's right, I remember that. I suppose I just never noticed these things until I decided I wanted to start following (literally) the team around.

    Before the match: top less

Match: Red and white, the kits. And because they're so large it comes out as red.

Nope; a lot of people rememer the US-Trinidad game in 1989 and thought the crowd at Port of Spain really looked cool in all red.

Just get a Total 90 blank jersey.

I have never seen solid red from head to toe. I have seen our nation wear all-white, white with blue shorts, all-blue, blue with white shorts, light blue with navy shorts, red with blue shorts, and red with white shorts.

Then there were the ghastly 1994 kits ....

I thought that the red was a great idea until we played poland in Chicago, and then you couldn't tell one fan from the other. Maybe an alternative color could be recommended in situations like this. Navy blue? Not to many countries have that color.

I was always big on the red till recently.

I'd rather have a section of mix matched colors who are singing and supporting than a whole section wearing red but only maybe half are singing.

    DING DING DING!!!

    We have a winner!

I'd rather be in a section that does it's primary job of supporting its national team thru song than just standing there looking dumbstruck.

Don't know about the rest of youze, but that's how some feel.

    13, beeyitches.

Funny, came into this thread and found msyelf in a casting call for "Queer Eye."

Wear red people. So what if other people wear it - we could wear blue, and other people wear that as well.

at least liverpool has an american player on the team with whitbread. All in red more important as long as you don't find an el salvador red shirt in the closet
