On a more serious note. Actually, I feel kind of dirty that I, or maybe "we", have to take this seriously.

Personal opinions? Fast food and politics! Ain't that America. I wonder if those poor chickens were killed with little American flag lapel pins...so as to not dirty up the freedom sacrifice.

Well, it sure has made facebook kind of interesting lately and has sure has split up my wife's huge family.

    hehe.

It is interesting, as the lesbians in the family have just stayed on the sidelines on this, while the huge extended family goes into passive aggressive mode, with each side trying to outdo the other.

To call what you're eating there "chicken" is a bit of a stretch, no?

Wednesday was free speech/free to support hate day and today was Gays Makeout at Chick-Fil-A day.

I already forgot what this has to do with chicken

Fox News framing this as a free speech issue was probably about the most predictable yet sad thing to come out of this.

Also, National Same Sex Kiss Day has a Tumblr.

BTW, this is my new favorite Literally Unbelievable:

This idiotic event is not worth a thread. A fast food owner has personal opinions about gay marriage that don't square with what a lot of Americans believe.

Those beliefs do not translate into the business itself. AFAIK, C-F-A doesn't discriminate against gay people.

Big deal. Lots of people don't agree with gay marriage. If supporters of gay marriage don't want to eat at C-F-A, great. I support gay marriage and I didn't want to eat at C-F-A before this whole dust up -- but even if I did, this wouldn't make me stop going there.

It's politics and activism at its most stupid.

Aw geez, it's not just that he has opinions, but that he donates considerable amounts to groups that work to deprive gay people of equal rights.

He gets his money from his business he owns. That business is the chicken place.

Perhaps, but their Spanish name makes me suspicious. Before I go eat there I want to know their owner's views on immigration.

Yes, no city has the right to exclude a perfectly legal operation form operating in their city, as long as they comply with all local laws/regs (which CFA does).

I get my chicken from Fairway (their roasted chickens are amazing)

FYP. Just trying to keep the thread on topic.

Meanwhile, the controversy has its first casualty, in an unexpected way:
A Tuscon CEO loses his job for posting a youtube video berating a Chick-Fil-A employee at the drive-in window.

And yet they're perfectly fine with companies quashing employees' rights to free speech. Free speech is only for the 0.01%.

IOKIYAA(PL)C is just as prevalent on the Right as IOKIYAAR.
