For all of us music junkies it is not possible to always buy music. For me right now, I'm having to watch the spending due to some unexpected costs. Of course there are many cds that I'd like to have right now also. I propose that this thread be a list where people post cds that they'd like and if somebody else out there has it then they pass it along in return for something that the other person has. Example: pvan wants Ben Harper and the Blind Boys of Alabama cd Nico wants Franz Ferdinand we just make copies and swap. thoughts?
Um, that's illegal and BS will be slapped with a lawsuit if they let the thread survive. Not to mention the record company goons using everything at their disposal to find out who we are and then sucking our bank accounts dry. No thanks. It would basically be a really inefficient Napster.
Something I've seen on boards like these, however, is swapping of actual retail CD's. People will post what they don't want anymore, and others will make an offer in trade. For instance, a post might be: I am offering: Bon Jovi "New Jersey" Run-DMC "Tougher Than Leather" Erasure "Abba-esque" Am looking for: Rush "2112" Bloc Party "Silent Alarm" Any Velocity Girl CD's That's legal. But you have to have a decent amount of trust in your trading partner.
Yes....nicodemus is spot on...don't piss us music publishers off!! cd exchanging of old cd's is a much better idea.
I've got a few CD's sitting around, that I don't use, since it's all on iTunes. The Stone Roses-Second Coming Sonic Youth-Daydream Nation Wilco-A Ghost is Born The Flaming Lips-Soft Bulliten The Rapture-Echoes Bad Religion-The Empire Strikes First I might have a few more lying around, usually I take them down to the local bookstore that buys all your old books, music, video games, movies etc. As for what I want, I'm sure that most people here have something that I don't (yet want), so I'll be open to pretty much anything.
My problem is that it's a safe bet that anyone looking to unload a CD I would actually want either A) won't admit to having it on these boards in the first place, or B) wouldn't want anything I have to offer in return cause it's pretty much the same crap I'm looking for but already have.

John Peel Sub Pop Sessions Monty Python Final Rip-Off 2-disc set And here's what I really need to get because I either lost them or have scratched them beyond repair: Afghan Whigs - Congregation Black 47 - their original self titled release with James Connelley on it CIV - Set Your Goals Bon Jovi - Crossroad Pick This - compilation (this is my favoritest CD I have ever owned and I can't find the damned thing anywhere. It was put out by Epic/Columbia/Chaos records in 1992. I have a copy, but it's getting pretty damned tattered and it sucks. So there. If you have something Iwant, then I feel bad for your musical tastes. But if you want something I have, lemme know.
I have a Postal Service CD that I need to unload ASAFP. I just want it out of my collection. Also, anybody have any old New Order CDs lying around that you'd wanna swap? I'm especially interested in "Power, Corruption, and Lies".
Crap - I was hoping this was the BonJovi CD that was inexplicably given to me. I do have Bon Jovi Crush (I think) which I would love to get rid of.
It's the one that they put out last year that has all their hits on it - including . I had it but lost it before I got an iPod. Huh. And you know what? When I bought that album, it had It's My Life on it as a bonus track. I just looked it up on their site and it's not listed there. Huh. That's the only recent song of theirs I really ever need to have.
Please point me to where I can download the Pick This album and the the CIV album and I will gladly download them. And if I could trade the Afghan Whigs and Black 47 CDs I already have for either non-scratched versions or for a direct exchange download, I most certainly would do so.
Is there any way I can download it from an actual place? I don't trust bitorrent. I know this is totally irrational, but I for somereason don't trust using them. It's kind of like how I didn't ever use Napster cause I don't like other people hooking to my computer. Again, I know this is irrational, but my computer ignorance made me this way. Plus I consider it stealing. I don't mind downloading things from like iTunes, but I don't like to just take something that isn't mine to take, y'know?
