Yeah, I clearly have no real idea how this is going to go. Personally, I'd say a few hundred minutes in MLS, a few hundred in MLSNP, and a few hundred with the US would be an ideal approach for next year. That would set him up to focus solely on the Union and being strictly a professional at the age of 16.

That just seems a lot better to me to give him another year to adapt and get some new experiences. From a periodization standpoint -- looking at this early part of his career -- it seems to fit together in a way that makes sense. He will obviously be with the first team for preseason, so we should get a much better idea then.

Yeah as long as he can play regularly with adults without the risk of injury no reason not to give him more minutes with the senior team if he deserves it. And if he outgrows the U17 team and is good enough for the U20s that’s where he should go. Pulisic and Reyna both were too good for their own U20 cycle so playing up will be the only chance Sullivan has on that front most likely.

Regardless of the outcome, that's just good to see. Yes, he's fresh and that defender is not. No, Kevin O'Toole is not particularly quick. But he's still a 14/15 year old outrunning a 20-something fullback.

I was never overly worried about Cavan's athleticism, but it's simply a good thing to see.

I was more impressed w/ him being able to physically get by him at the beginning of the run.

Curtin is so annoying. They were up 4-0 with 20 mins left and he only gave Cavan 3 mins. Quinn has been Phillys best player this year. hope he gets a move this offseason.

He did the same with Paxten Aaronson. They’d be blowing a team out and he’d give him 5 minutes when he could’ve gotten 25 without changing the result. There’s really not much benefit to playing 5 minutes or so.

    Did that damage Paxten irreparably?

I won't pretend that I know how much time 14 years old prodigy should be given, but agree about his brother. I'd say that he is better than Paredes now, and that should define types of clubs that should be interested.

Huh? Put the bottle down. He's been good to very good at times, yet is still inconsistent. Their best players this season have been Wagner, Gazdag, Baribo, and Martinez.

Metrics have him 6th best when he plays his top position & I think he should be bumped up (not dinged) to 5th over Uhre for versatility. He moves elsewhere to accommodate others, which hurts his rep. If he stays for another yr & has good will built up, I'd like to see it the other way around.

Maybe he's the best, for his age, which lends to lower expectations, & some think in terms of how who'll be tops over time. Maybe that's still his lil bro, but he obviously hasn't done anything w/ the seniors for anyone to make the claim he's Philly's best player already. It won't take much.

Cavan was pretty good yesterday. He did a lot that didn’t end up on the score sheet.

He stole the ball, made the run and played CJ Olney through in acres of space to assist Markus Anderson.

And I think he played Eddie Davis through when he drew the penalty that Pariano scored.

Did you check the comments in this post*, some hate coming from the Carrizo camp (dad). I thought Max played well, gave the ball away cheaply a few times but was good in their build up play.
Before Cavans assist on a free kick Vasquez walked up and was pushing him off the ball. Cavan wasn’t having it and after the goal turned and hd some words for Vasquez. It’s clear Cavan has jumped past Vasquez and Olney in the depth chart. Thats got to be a tough pill to swallow for young talented players.

I doubt it that's big a deal when it is someone as hyped as Cavan. It is what it is, and they've been in the Philly academy long enough to no longer be the clear top dog even before him.

Did Carrizo's dad really post negative things about a 14 year old publicly? Dude needs to grow up.

You mean Vazquez played Eddie Davis in on the penalty?
