Fun game, good crowd. All good things from the Union II came through Cavan but it was literally men v boys. He did very well to draw the penalty but not so much with the finish. Ferreira had some good moments as did Eddie Davis and Theo Reed.

Cavan was the only 1st team player and went 75 mins.

Eddy Davis III is also on a first team contract.

That's the Cavan we've been waiting for. Maybe the second half of MLS he explodes?

He’s been very good the last 4 games. I’d be surprised if he didn’t. The team is just awful.

There was also a quote from the new coach about Cavan recently where he gushes. He seems to be the perfect coach for him.

A slow month for this thread- so here's Cavan vs Kelce (at the 16:45 mark)

The fatso isn't bad actually. If he were 25 years younger he might become a prospect.

Anyone hear about any plans for Cavan this summer? Going to City to train?

Philly's first match back is only a few weeks away against Red Bull. Should be fun seeing big prospects from both sides playing against each other.

Cavan also had an assist on Westfield's deft chip of the Keeper for Philly's second goal.

It's hard to imagine him failing as a prospect barring injury. At his ages, he's the most exciting I've really ever seen alongside Adu as a U17. I think he'll probably get capped some time between Summer '27 and winter '27-'28.

It depends on what the bar is for failure/success. I can't really see him not becoming a consistently good/productive player at the MLS level. In short... I think his floor is pretty high. But what are the criteria for him to be considered a success from a ceiling perspective?

Weah was considered a great prospect early on and went on to be a regular for top-5 league clubs and for his country but he never became a non-replacement level player for his teams. He should be in the middle of his prime but his productivity has stalled. His injury problems likely decreased his speed skill but he has been relatively healthy for a while and I am hard pressed to ID anything remarkable about his profile at this point.

I will probably compare his success relative to guys like CP and Gio. Both broke into the BL at any early age and produced right off the bat. Both also had injury problems that either hampered (CP) or downright strangled (Gio) their productivity. Like all prospects, avoiding serious injury is going to be an important factor... I think if he can stay healthy then he has the potential to be special... I base this on what I have seen on the pitch from him... both physically and mentally.

I don't know if he'll be that "star" we're looking for at a higher level than Pulisic.

......................but he has a very high floor.

Are you sure about that? He's never been a starter on youth NTs. If anything he's achieved way more than was expected from the kid with his mlimited abilities.

As far as I recall he was coming from the bench. Carleton, Sargent, and whatever his name kid that switched to Canada, and disappeared after playing for Toronto were starters.

Weah was never considered Cavan level. The only player Cavan really connects to is Adu in ‘03 and Pulisic by winter ‘14-‘15. I’ve been watching these guys for 23 years so after being an overhype machine at times, I’ve had enough heartbreaks and disappointments to know the levels and Cavan if he stays healthy and is good between the ears will hit. USMNT starter, big 5 level no problem.

He was a bench player LWF sub if I remember right at least against Paraguay during that hat trick he had back in '17, in '19 he was a starter with the U20's.
