A generation aging, a new wave coming in, many of which we've never seen in action yet.

Who will lead them? What does the captaincy mean to you?

If Boca is still going does he keep it?

    If not...

    Is it Donovan?
    Howard?
    Bradley?

I'd like to hear some opinions because there seem to be about 4 glaring and differing opinions amongst USMNT N&A posters.

To me, captaincy isn't just an age or a talent issue; and it's also not something that is just bestowed but rather earned via respect.

Seen in that light, I think Carlos Bocanegra has been an EXCELLENT captain. In every interview I've seen...in the way he's represented the team on and off the field, even in the little ways such as the genuine passion he's always shown singing the anthem and his excellent comportment during play, it is clear that he embodies everything you'd look for in a captain.

Will he continue in that role? As long as he is a starter, I would imagine he would. Of course, a new coach may have a different perspective, but I think if judging a captain on a variety of criteria...leadership, emotional maturity, cool-headedness, ability to inspire...I think Boca is right there at the top of the list.
