Damn all choking by the Leafs really getting to you guys. You'd figure after 60+ years you'd get used to it by now.

    Btw, live look at Toronto:

    I really thought that?

I didn't. I knew they weren't good enough. Actually we are a good team. For Regular Season. Division Winners and 108 Points show it. But like other teams found out (Winnipeg, Washington) playoffs are a different animal. Getting rid of the Captain (who is also Captain of the USA NT incidentally) is high priority.

So no hate for Marner getting paid $14 million to suck a thousand dicks? Interesting. What about Tavares, another Portuguese choker who made a big deal about leaving NY just to continue choking in Canada.

Despite being a lifelong fan, I watched a grand total of 1 Period of the Regular Season. NHL, MLB Regular Season are pretty much an investment I won't be making as I have other priorities in life. I did return for the Playoffs. I'll be fine.

The biggest signing will be Matthew Knies. He's a RFA so it shouldn't be a problem.

That's the big question. Tavares got 38 Goals this season and is a Free Agent. I have seen players at this age have that 1 great season before they hit the wall and the drop off is on. For me, going forward, he is a 3rd Line Centre. He has always been slow as ******** and the game is just getting faster. The drop off will be spectacular if they want to rely on him and re-sign him. I would re-sign him for 2 years for 3M. Maybe a team option for a 3rd. But no more than that. He should be grateful for making millions, generational wealth, working a job that keeps him in shape, and winning an Olympic Gold Medal but he cannot be a centerpiece. No way.

Marner. Well. 102 Point players don't grow on trees. To go far in the Playoffs you have to make the Playoffs in the first place. Guys like Marner, Matthews, Tavares, Nylander will get a team over 100 Points and qualify to the Playoffs by February. So they do have to still qualify to the Playoffs. Marner will have plenty of suitors and this will be the biggest contact of his life. So you can shit on him but he is still in demand and on July 1st he will get himself paid.

But come Playoff time you need grunts and plugs like Justin Williams (literally nicknamed "Mr Game 7").

FWIW, Matthew Tkachuk didn't score this series. Maybe it's an American thing but then again, Seth Jones did. So that can't be it.

Any other team and Toronto probably wins this series. But a big ask against the defending chumps.

The Leafs can blow it up and start over. Miss the playoff for 4 years and try with a new group. Maybe Washington should have as well but they kept at it with their core and finally did it back in 2018.

They should absolutely blow it up. Clean house top to bottom. That's what we did after letting Doug Wilson keep us in choker purgatory for years.

Not as long as a French club to win the UCL. I guess that makes French players useless.

No. Just writing that French football clubs can't get results in Europe (even if that may change in the upcoming Final) but the quality of football players they produce is top tier. The Calgary Flames are not indicative of the strength of Canadian hockey just like the current day SJ Sharks or Blackhawks are not indicative of the strength of US hockey.

Incidentally, something like 18 Finnish players are on the last 4 teams remaining in the NHL Playoffs. They could repeat as Gold Medalists in Milano-Cortina.

I really wish Russia would be allowed in for old times sake. I would love to smash them. I think a Canada vs Russia matchup would have American's support Russia.

I'm old enough to remember Doug Wilson as a player with Chicago. Wore no helmet. Plenty of battles in the old Norris Divison.

I said the leafs needed to blow it up 4 years ago. So glad I stopped watching them like I do the Portuguese Liga. For different reasons. Leafs because they are not built for the playoffs and have a delusional fan base and zero leadership being owned by media conglomerates. The liga because its run by and reffed by fans of the grandes.

Anyways Tavares is done should not be resigned. Marner can't come back given the hate he will get and the fact that he is at best a second liner.

Mathews at this point his value is in the gutter but maybe a US team could pay a big price for him.

Send Reilly out while we are at it and start from scratch.

We can miss a few years of the playoffs to get draft picks. But I feel when we make the playoffs with no names we will get to a conference final at least.

I'd rather it be owned by a faceless Corporation than a meddling owner, if I'm being honest. Even under a corporation there is still a CEO and team president.

Draft Picks are a mess as we traded them away. Which is why it's imperative, IMO, we sign Marner. You can always trade him away at the deadline in Year 2 or 3 to a team looking for a final push and load up on Draft Picks.

    IMO:

    - Sign Marner (he's a first liner. No 2nd Liner got 102 Points and plays the penalty kill).
    - Let Tavares walk. Or an unbelievable club friendly low ball offer. He's not going to get better at age 35. 2nd or 3rd Line Center. Say what you will about him, he's a leader. He had Knies stay with him when he first joined for 6 Months. But 7 Years is enough. Too slow, my God.

    - Need a puck moving D-man. Sorely missing.

    - July 1, Brad Marchand is a FA. He was a fan growing up as he said on Sunday. He will give them a kick in the pants. Plus a proven playoff performer and won't sink us like he always does.

    - Next Off- Season (July 1, 2027) ALL OUT for Connor McDavid. Somehow, anyhow, get it to work with the Cap. If he wins the Cup next month he won't feel obligated to them.

Dude was a good GM, just couldn't get over the hump. Made some great free agent signings and trades that just didn't work out.

Beh. Except for the Montreal and Columbus played in the bubble, the other series were against great teams.

I meant he's a second liner in the playoffs. Has no business being on the top line

Thanks for this. As is tradition, every time you predict Sporting losing, we win. Credit where its due.

Sporting beat benfica, all because of your terrible, overrated academy, and Bruno has a great game on the same day. How ya doing big guy?
