Well now the 3rd game of this seasons super classico just got more interesting. We will still B-slap them but at least it's gonna be competative now.
Not sure if they got a lot better, Sharlie couldn’t crack the starting eleven in New England and no one there seems particularly disappointed to see him go outside of not giving him the send off for past services.
This is is a great deal....if it was still 2007. Joseph makes $495,00/year. http://www.mlsplayers.org/salary_info.html
Shalrie started some of their most dangerous chances against the Galaxy yesterday, but it's going to take a lot more than just putting him on the field to make this team go. Fraser at halftime said he wasn't happy with his defense - I hope he meant defensive pressure all over the field. They looked intimidated. Lots of work to be done and I wonder if Robin will survive it.
I thought SJ looked very immobile and slow. What he contributed seened to be based more upon his experience (positioning and simple accurate passing) then athletic ability. Beyond his passing, he didn't look like an offensive threat at all.
Counterpoint, he also made some dreadful passes and gave up possession easily. I thought the positives he brought were cancelled out by the negatives. Perhaps as Twellman suggested in the broadcast he’s used to passing to the guys in blue (Punjab) and he’ll adjust the “twitch”.
Yep, he definitely had his miscues, too, especially that one steal that Donovan and Keane almost converted to a goal.
If the MLS is the league aging European stars go to for retirement then I guess CUSA is the team aging mediocre MLS players go for retirement. I mean, hey, you're still technically in LA, right?
Shalrie did launch most of their better counter attack opportunities (and one of ours as well ). But with slow as molasses Angel as their forward paired with Aguedelo they had difficulty turning these into shots. Shalrie at least was the one player on their team that played the ball quickly, usually 1 touch. The rest take too many touches making them even easier to defend. I agree that he wasn't physically as dominant as he could be in years past - not as quick nor covered the massive amount of ground we are used to seeing from him. He didn't look like he was completely in game shape - not a good sign at this point of the season. It was all moot anyway. Once I knew Jazic would be starting in back for them and Lopes wasn't for us I knew we had the game in the bag.
Since this trade went through, Chivas is 0-7-2, and currently on a five game loosing streak. How is it possible that the team has actually gotten worse, since adding a player like Shalrie Joseph?
Nail on the head. They have improved their team on paper a bunch this year, they have a pretty good coach, and they are absolutely terrible. What has gone wrong? I dunno, but pretty much only Chivas could have that roster and be in the middle of the most demoralizing losing run of any team this year not named TFC. Actually, come to think of it, those two teams are peas in a pod, in terms of on-field issues. (Fan issues are totally different---you can argue that Chivas doesn't have enough of a following to have a disappointed fanbase, whereas TFC has one of the most long-suffering even thought hey are relatively new int he league.)
Think we should change the thread title? It would be the polite thing to do. I used to love hating Chivas, but now it's as satisfying as rolling a hobo.
No. They are better, but still bad bad bad. Never rolled a hobo. Is it fun? The more Chivas loses the MORE I enjoy it. Just wish the same could be happening to DCU.
