I thought he did ok. The goal was well taken and his positioning and timing were good. I don't think he was great, but he didn't look sharp (6 weeks without a game will do that) and he still has to learn his teammates.

Promising display. He's got gravity and understands how to use it. Having another athlete in the front line is so helpful, especially a left footed attacker. He's not at all like Sancho, but one way he's similar is that he has a ton of angles he can hurt you from. You can't just say 'ah, I'll show him down the outside/inside' he will wreck you going either side if you get predictable.

I think Ronaldo might benefit from having Antony out there more than anyone. Antony loves a quick cut inside and then a cross to the back post. Ronaldo is still world class at finding space in the box and winning a header. Rashford doesn’t anticipate we’ll enough to take advantage of those types of balls.

agree rash doesn't anticipate, one example is rash just labored forward once he passed to antony if he wants to be a 9 he should have closed down for rebound, that is how he can get extra 5-10 goals. Antony looked good but as Johno said not tuned he is not nani but can dribble effectively.

Having ETH and the Brazilians/Portuguese players has helped him here. Dream debut.

Still needs time to grow and mature. He has expect rough treatment. He can't moan about it and will need to get on with it. If he has a solid head on his shoulders he will do well.

I much prefer him to Darwin or Diaz. He has more football skill in him.

All I know is,.to me it was a true Lefty. Because on that goal, instinctively I would have let the ball come across my body as a righty and taken the shot because I would have thought opening up your hips and hitting it with your left would have been slightly trickier but for a natural Lefty that seemed much more fluid and easier finish.

Nani had a ludicrous run of like 90 games where he contributed a goal or an assist per game. Him being maligned as not having end product is one of the least fair things to have happened in football.

In your case it's because you haven't played at the highest level so you don't know any better

The boy from Inferninho - The Antony Thread

The favela he is from is called little hell (Check out the Daily Star report).

Plan A - The Antony Thread

Antony talked about football being his plan A growing up there was no plan B. Coming to United was his plan A as well, there was no plan B. Us wanting him and paying for him that much was our plan A, we had no plan B (if we did we would have gotten someone else). His grit and style is type/plan A.
