A quick check of the internet shows the DoctorD family was not the only ones impressed by the women kissing after Baumgartner's jump.

The Neanderthal DNA of people from europe and the middle east is about 1-4%. Homo Heidelbergensis is supposed to be the direct common ancestor of both humans and neanderthals, home heidelbergensis lived about aout 400,000-600,000 years ago in Africa

Also being researched by this group:
When they say "it's not you, it's me", are they being honest?

Au contraire, this seems to be the spirit - if it essentially means we're talking past each other.

    The last case of kuru?

Great article about how doctors discovered that kuru, the laughing sickness of New Guinea, was discovered to be related to mad-cow disease and the eating of the dead. The scary part is that the last case was reported in 2009 - 50 years after ritual cannibalism was banned.

I had a meal of carpaccio in the Netherlands in '99, so I'm waiting for my degeneration to begin.

That's a really cool site, but I'm not sure some of the information is entirely accurate. But then there isn't necessarily universal agreement about species classification anyway.

One thing I wonder about is whether or not a "tree" is the most accurate way to represent species relationships. For example some species may have come about through hybridization of two different lineages (like the red wolf of the southeast is not thought to have resulted from interbreeding between gray wolves and coyotes).

    Very cool fella that guy.

We've got Brian Cox, (no, not that one.. the other one), who's also great fun to listen to.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Cox_(physicist)

He's been on the telly with 'Stargazing Live' for the BBC recently with Dara O'Briain who, as well as being a stand-up comic, also has a degree in Mathematics and theoretical physics from University College, Dublin.

Whenever I see that guy I always think of this bit of film, (at about 5:00 mins in), and my own experience with 'Enemy Territory' where, like him, I die.... A LOT! :)
