I decided to start this thread to see if there's any interest in starting a Brazilian draft thread along the lines of the one in the USA forum: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=95297 Shorter recap here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=96427 I would like to see if we couldn't get 10-12 teams going with some of the regulars on the Brazil forum and anyone else who wants to join in. If there's more interest than I expect, we can do 16 teams. These would be the rules/parameters: The objective is to draft a team as if you were managing a club in the Brasileirão for the next 3 years. You can draft any Brazilian national, regardless of where they play - Brazilians who play for other countries are of course ineligible. They must be on a professional team or reserve/junior team somewhere (no Beach Soccer or amateur players). We will establish a time-limit on each drafters turn based on user requests and the number of teams. There will be 25 rounds. Draft a squad of any amount of GKs, Ds, Ms and Fs you want. The draft order will not be as with the American draft - unless too many people dislike my idea. My proposal is for a random draft order in each round, with the last drafter of the previous round to begin the following round. eg: A - B - C - D - E - F F - D - A - B - C - E E - C - A - F - D - B and so on... Do not mention players who have not been drafted yet! Analysis of previous picks is accepted and encouraged. Pointing out players who are still left is not welcomed - yeah in the first round you'd better know everyone who's available and worth picking, but let's keep the rule from the beginning so in later rounds when someone is trying to find a backup left-back they don't get clues from the spectators. So, add your name to this thread, first-come, first-served, if you're interested in trying this here. Hopefully it'll take off. The draft begins as soon as all "Managers" are in and we agree on the time-limit and set a draft order.

I am interested. I am ashamed to ask, but do you have any quality online resources that list players or something. It looks like I will need to do some footwork.
I'm with Garcia I don't enough about Brazalian football to be sure that I am getting a steal in the 25th round.
i'd do it if i wasnt in the other one already if anybody wishes to have a consultant of sorts, shoot me a PM - i'm no expert but i have watched a lot of brazilian league and junior international football over the last two years

We like quality, not quantity! I will post some resources in Portuguese and English in this forum shortly. Once we have 12 peopl I will draw a draft order and we should expect to start on Monday, February 23rd. efer where are you? MIGKiller, when are you back? tpmazembe!!! 2 (or 3) more is all we need - I'll try and recruit tomorrow. I already have a draft order - will then randomly draw the managers into it (currently it reads A B C D etc. - we will then draw a letter for each manager). Will collect resources for everyone (hey I need some research too once we get into the later rounds!!! - everyone will) and post over the weekend. This should be great Ombak and many thanks for coordinating, however, do you have to launch it during Carnaval?? Could the draft start on Wed or Thurs of next week? Maybe Mig might return by then? I know I'll be in better shape for the draft if not physically drained.

Time to go on a recruiting drive for the last 2 or 3 managers. Resources: First of all, do not forget the basics! www.fifa.com for rosters of youth tournaments, www.conmebol.com for rosters of the Olympic Qualifiers and past Copa Americas, and line-ups for Libertadores! Don't undervalue these - I had forgottena very valuable midfielder out of Brazil's squad of 23 in the World Cup and was racking my brain to remember who it was until I went to the site. Second: For those of you who speak Portuguese, use the major newspapers: home.uol.com.br, globo.globo.com.br For those who need a more in-depth source in English I'm still searching for something comprehensive, suggestions are welcome.
i'd love to play ombak, but i'll be losing my unlimited for a few weeks and dial-up ain't cheap in the netherlands - still, as i said i'd love to help out one of the managers, maybe someone who might need the odd suggestion or sounding board

OK, I'm unstickying this thread. We will start the draft on Monday at 9am. I will post a draft order on Sunday - people can still join but we will start even if we don't get anyone.
