Has got to be removing the dead weight. We have the following players returning into the squad and all have high and prohibitive contracts.

Marco Borriello - 5.4 million a year (gross)
David Pizarro - 3.2 plus prizes
Matteo Brighi - 2.3 million (gross) plus prizes
    Julio Sergio - 2.1 million

These contracts are incredibly burdensome for Roma and I don't see suitors lining up for any of these players. Plus they've shown in the past an unwillingness to lower their wages and accept transfer. Both Borriello and Pizarro refused to leave tomorrow.

On top of them there are a lot of other elements in the squad that should be shown the door.

    Greco
    One of Simplicio/Perrotta
    Taddei
    Juan

I'd like to let Simone retire with Roma, I think he deserves it. Plus he's a great role model for the younger players.

Anyhow I struggle to see how we are going to pull this off, barring a miracle.

I sort of like Taddei,I think we should keep him he always gives 110% for Roma and never complains.

The only big one is Borriello's, the others you can let them expire.Like Pizarro in 2013.Taddei for 2013/2014 has little wage contract, so basically u can say its till 2013.Perrotta is 2013.Juan is 2013

    Borriello is the trouble.

Pizarro said he wanted to retire at Roma a few days ago, basically he just wants to sit in stands faking an injury collecting his paycheque

Roma lost 40 million euros this season, letting people sit and expire is not an ideal solution. It's money that could be going to other players.

I'm sorry, but as great as Sergio was for us during the 09/10 season, I really can't fathom how the hell he ended up making that kind of money. This is a keeper that was already in his 30's and was a 3rd choice until that season. My god was our management ever horrible back then...

I recall seeing Roma's wage tables and JS was nowhere near 2.1m. He was well under 1m, these might be full contract period numbers.

Our squad is way too big. The only three players I'd keep are Taddeii, Perrotta, and maybe Simplicio. The rest we need to try to either cut or loan out next season. I think Juan will sell, Cicinho will leave, and hopefully we can dump Borriello off at Juve, but the rest we may have to try to send out on loan like we did with Pizzaro.

Realistically we shouldn't have a squad larger then 24 players, but I can't see us slimming up that much.

I would be really surprised if Juve picked up Boriello.

Here's my list, some I don't want to see go but I think it's necessary for building a complete squad.

All these are gross salaries as well.

    Borriello - €5.4m
    Juan - €4.6m
    Cicinho - €3.8m
    Kjaer - €3.6m
    Pizarro - €3.2m
    Taddei - €2.8m
    Perrotta - €2.5m
    Simplicio - €1.8m
    Cassetti - €1.8m
    Heinze - €1.2m
    Rosi - €700km

    *Expiring*

So that's around €30m in gross salary. Net salary, what we can offer players with our d would be around €17.5m or the equivalent of €336k per/wk. We can add a lot of quality with that amount of cash. If history tells us anything we wont be able to move them all, if we move half we should be happy. Thankfully some are on expiring contracts and others we have the option to send them back.

Also if we could somehow get €10m-€15m from sales from the lot we'd be in a good position to add quality. I liked those rumors of Juan being offered to Brazilian clubs in exchange for a young prospect. Unfortunately being a Vasco fan, they were put out of the Copa Libertadores last night but that might open up a swap plus cash for Dede.

note that salaries aint static.Taddei for ex. has contract till 2014.but in 2013/2014 season he would be earning less then a million i believe.its much less then this year.

there are other players on other hand whose wage increase with years, like angel lamela etc.

    totally agree, however,

I would hang on to greco, perrotta and taddai.

the rest can leave, especially borrillo.

Bertolacci/Crescenzi/Florenzi's contracts all worryingly end on 6/30/2012. we need to tie them up soon

hoping to see the following next year

    team A:
    Stekelenburg
    Rosi Burdisso newCB Marquinho
    Pjanic DDR
    Lamela Totti Borini
    Osvaldo

    team B:
    Curci
    Crescenzi newCB newCB Angel
    Viviani Bertolacci
    Taddei Florenzi Perrotta
    newstriker

    loan out: Nego, Caprari
reserves: anyone in primavera (Tallo, Piscitella, Lopez, etc)

    out:
    Pizarro
    Borriello
    Bojan
    Kjaer
    Juan
    Gago
    Simplicio
    Greco
    Okaka
    Lobont
    Julio Sergio
    Cicinho - out of contract
    Heinze - out of contract
    Cassetti - out of contract

i know a lot of you like Simplicio/Greco/Gago, but keeping them means less playing time for Bertolacci/Viviani/Florenzi

Juve seem to have a thing for Borriello.
