Inter is ranked ahead of Lyon by you even though they trail them in their group ? Even though Inter hasn't been Lyon in 2 meetings ? Go back to sleep you biased Italian moron. Inter ain't in the top 10.

    1) AC Milan (and just think, they did that to Bayern w/out Rivaldo and Shevchenko)
    2) Liverpool (yea I know they aren't even on top of their group but can you name a hotter team? Owens - Diouf Combo most dangerous in the world hear that Real Madrid?)
    3) ManU (the strikers are average, esp w/o Ruud but they probably have the best midfield in the world with Becks, Giggs, Scholes, Nicky Butt, and Veron)
4)Barcelona (can't really tell how good they are in their group but La Liga defense has been playing Matador style)
    5) Arsenal (after getting points in 30 straight they have now lost 2 straight, folks will be setting up wards against Wayne Rooney when Everton visits Highbury)
    6) Valencia (stubbed a toe against Basel but the Spanish holders are stepping right along)
    7) Dortmund (consistency thy name is Borussia, but can they catch Arsenal and will they care enough to actually try?)
8)Leverkusen (Landon who? We don't need no stinkin American, have now won 4 matches in a row)
9)Juventus (even if it was in St. James Park favorites aren't supposed to lose to teams that got trounced 5 - 2 to relegation fighters)
10)Lyon (for lack of a better team, even though Sonny Anderson and Carriere are fun to watch)

Ah yes...an intelligent unbiased fan of "French Football" chimes in.
Inter have only lost 1 game all season and any team that can only manage 6th place in the challenging French league doesn't deserve to be in the top 10 of anything.

Blackburn are hardly relegation fighters. They are doing quite well in advancing in the UEFA cup, 7th in the premiership, and look a good bet to play in Europe next year too.

yea...but a few weeks ago they were below sunderland, and then won 2 in a row. I hope they can keep it up,David Dunne and Damien Duff look like quite a pairing and Friedel is outstanding in goal

I have to agree. Inter are definitely not better than Lyon at the moment. Their ranking in the French competition has nothing to do with that.

If it really does how do you explain the Dutch number 18 kicking Bordeaux out of the UEFA cup last year (or 2 years ago.. don't remember exactly). Domestic and international are two different things.

I'll agree as well, Inter are NOT playing well at the moment. So far, they've still been able to squeak a few out in Europe but they need to step it up a gear if they want to get to the next stage and seriously contend. Cuper's lineups are still overly cautious in the midfield and other teams run right through them there, add to that the defence is in disarray letting in really weak goals.

A team's form in their domestic league has alot to do with how good a team is, at least in my rankings they do. You can't just discount how a club is playing in their league. Inter is currently joint top of Serie A and that is saying something. Lyon, if they are really that good should be topping the table in France. If Lyon was currently 18th in France but still topping their group in CL would you still say they are better than Inter?

I don't think is true. If you watched the game then you realize that Inter basically dominated this game. Very attractive and flowing offesnse, and sound defense outside of set peices. Inter probably made 3 mistakes in the entire match and those 3 mistakes led to Lyon goals. Lyons defense was basically shredded and their offense for much of the match was not there. They got lucky

Oh please the first two Lyon goals were collective beauties, they took the inter defenders to the cleaners, plus Cacapa scored an own goal for inter in an attack that would have led to nothing.

as for talking about who is better? its just too early to talk about that just now, they are two great teams.

I don't agree with you on this although Inter played better than they have so far in the CL.

Fact is that a team can play superb in Europe and be ************ domestically. And you might think that a weak performance (being ranked 6th is not weak, it's the beginning of the competition) in the league makes you less strong in Europe but reality proves otherwise. If Lyon were ranked 18th but they still topped the group with these results I'd still rank them over Inter. Serie A is tough but it's not the world. So Inter being 1 is nice but doesn't mean that much. They're a good team... no news.

I don't agree with you on this although Inter played better than they have so far in the CL. Besides Inter also got lucky against Ajax (not very relevant but I just had to say that :)

Maybe it means the french league is stronger than the italian one.

Then consider this, Milan are also joint top of Serie A and they've been good in the CL so far.

Actually, I don't either Lyon or Inter are very good. A healthy Ajax team would run away with this group with breaking a sweat

What? Did I say it's impossible? Listen.... anybody who's watched domestic teams play international will know the phenomenon of teams that play like ************ in Europe but are playing good in their own competition or vice versa. Domestic league and CL are just not the same and the results will not always be the same. Simple as that. A team can have bad form in the domestic league and still play good in Europe. Might be odd but it happens all the time. Chances are that this team will recover (domestically) during the season so that they will have a very good overall season in the end.

Lyon being ranked 6th in this phase of the league is not a valid argument to rank them below Inter because Inter are 1st in Italy. In the two matches between these teams I believe Lyon made a very good impression. Just like they did against Rosenborg (5-0) and they played OK against Ajax in Amsterdam.
Inter didn't impress against Rosenborg, Ajax or Lyon.
They showed why they will always be a contender but they also showed that they should be able to 10 times better with the quality they have... but they don't so far.
