Well, at the risk of sounding obvious, the big day is upon us.

I believe this is a big day for us. It's been a while since we played any PL teams and they were Wolves and Spurms (I think) last season.

Despite the final result, and our injuries, our team can take alot away from this game. Besides we are far better at being the underdog than the favourites, if history is anything to go by.

I spent the first few hours of today thinking about Sir Bobby Moore. His remembrance provokes quite a few thoughts about the West Ham of today. I would like to think that if I were on the team I would be remembering all the stars that have graced the pitch before me and be humbled by that fact. I would be playing for them and everything they have built at the club and not be thinking of the material aspects which are valued by the young players of today.

When we remember who were are on the pitch we are unbeatable because it causes us to play with a passion and a venom that is unmatched by any other club.

One quote I will always remember was after that game against Man Utd, last game of the season which finished 1-1 and lost them the title. SAF said that we "...played like men possessed".

This is a quality which remains at West Ham regardless who comes and goes. It is enclosed within the four walls of Upton Park, the fact that at any given time, against any opposition and with the right incentive we can more than match anyone.

This is what we all long to see again under Pardew's influence. It's been a while. No more excuses or lame reasons. Just to play out of our skins for the full 90 mins. He needs to go back to basics and work the players up psychlogically.

Tonight this will be the difference between us standing a chance against Chelsea and being totally stuffed.

Cross everything and pray Hammers fans. Because I couldn't stand seeing us get thrashed again like against Blackburn.
