Where was the big black banner on saturday? The one that is usually unfurled in the Nest after a goal? Have goals become so rare that we've forgotten how to celebrate them?
Noone appreciated its subtle charm and beery aroma, so we are replacing it. It belongs to the Barra. We should have a new one in the upcoming weeks. Haven't really needed it for goals anyway. (ps) Marco Etcheverry funded the old banner that enhanced so many game days. Not many people know that.
I offered to scrub that thing down in the parking lot on a morning before a night game somewhere on the RFK grounds. I thought it would be a good, if dangerous, excuse to have beer for breakfast. I still think it would be a cool thing to do one warm Saturday this summer.
The best part is when people are so "happy" that they unfurl the banner upside down --Nothing sends a clearer message to the rest of the stadium.... We have great tailgates
I volunteer the possibly underage women of the Barra to do it, so long as there are hoses and white T-shirts involved
I think it's beyond being salvaged. Like Begbie said, we should be replacing it soon, although gocaps idea has merit.
If The Big Black Banner is truly too worn for handling, why not arrange for it to be hung somewhere, say off the upper deck, or over the big Budweiser sign?
You dhould ask them to let you hang it on the upper deck. Though I highly doubt they would let you guys do it. They are stiffs about that kinda thing.

Hey, I would just suggest they avoid the Barra during the tailgate if their running around in thongs... Some of the amigos get so drunk they might even go for Sachin in a thong hehehehe
