I think we can safely call this Yamal's best club game of the season now: Another 14-dribble performance in a semi-final. This video doesn't quite catch all of them.
1 - Casemiro tonight made 11 tackles, won 16 duels and made 9 clearances - he is the only player in the last 20 seasons to record all of those numbers in a single Premier League match. Everywhere. pic.twitter.com/Pf6pxUNEOz— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) April 27, 2026
So having 14 dribbles is more impressive than scoring 3 goals out of ~0.6 xG in a win or go home game against Guardiola's ManCity?
Your video doesn't work, and your post has absolutely nothing to do with anything I'd written, chief.
And to be fully pedantic, neither Valverde's nor Mbappe's hat-tricks vs City actually came in "win or go home" games, as far as I recall: Valverde's scored his in the first leg, and Mbappe's came after first winning the away tie.
You meant Yamal's personal best club game of the season or the best club game of the season for any player
I meant "Yamal's best club game of the season". Hence why I called it "Yamal's best club game of the season", and also why I felt comfortable calling it a month before the season's actually over.
Which is even more impressive as ManCity were with the responsibility of getting the result. It would be shameful for either of them to be knocked out in the playoffs
It might have, actually. I don't think this is the clip I'd meant to share. Here's a much clearer video:
Everyone's basically fit, right? (Other than Musiala, who's recovering.) I'd expect PSG to win the game by a one or two goal margin. I haven't actually watched enough of either team this season, though.
Having a quick browse of Twitter posts today, I noticed this video for Gheorghe Hagi vs Gothenburg 1988/89 which belongs on this thread I'd say (I saw @CristianoPuskas had made one recently for Enzo Scifo vs Marseille 1990/91 also - the full video will be on his Youtube channel now or soon I guess): Hagi Fútbol on X: "Gheorghe Hagi vs Goteborg European Cup 88/89 Home https://t.co/Nh54DtlfvK" / X
Yes, a little bit (I guess Puskas was more clinical/efficient as scorer, even if it would have been a bit easier to score a lot in his day also). Also though (to name some other left-footers), in that period of his career, a little bit Savicevic, a little bit Kinkladze, a little bit Messi even (in moving past defenders with the ball from the midfield)?..... A little bit Gerson in long passing also maybe (though Puskas for sure was a good passer and with range himself)?
Wiliam Felipe Gracek Most Dribbles Completed in a Champions League final since records began:• 10 - Ronaldinho vs. Arsenal (2006)• 10 - Lionel Messi vs. Man Utd (2011)• 10 - Lionel Messi vs. Juventus (2015)• 8 - Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Chelsea (2008)• 8 - Vinícius Júnior vs. Dortmund (2024) pic.twitter.com/hHk1CN42HT— 🖤™ (@Ilvaite0) February 13, 2025
one metric totally secondary on the professional Football Goals ??? or Assists in the Final ??? Can you show me some of Ronaldinho? make a video about this later shows me !
Sandro Mazzola .. from Inter Milan .. maybe will be the recordist in one Match .. i remember one game from him dribbling in speed ... i guess 20x times in a match .. he did it one great goal..dribbling past so many many players in a row.. in greater speed .. "!
Del Sol in the Final 1960 vs Frankfurt has so many many dribbles completed ! i believe more ++ than Ronaldinho or Messi !
Yes, definitely. Since 1955 there must have been performances with more dribbles. George Best is a strong candidate. I counted 18 in total (12 completed), which would make him the record holder, compared to Ronaldinho’s 19 total (10 completed). Even so, Ronaldinho has held the record since 2003/04 (alongside Messi). Against Arsenal, Ronaldinho showed great attitude; he just missed the finish. It was a great performance. That match celebrated its 20th anniversary just a few days ago. Dribbling is essential to breaking down defenses and disrupting tactical systems.
as simple as that continues not being the main metric on the professional Football ! so for you Jay Jay Okocha or Denilson Show or Djalminha or Ariel Ortega or Del Sol were better players than Marco van Basten for completed more dribbles in career ?????
