Man I am skeptical on the Ramires kid, I have never seen him play. I wanted De Guzman. We need to get Gomis too if there is any truth to that rumor, and leave Alves alone.

Looks like we going in for Nene as well...2 Million. I rather use that same amount of money to try and secure Gomis.

    Yessir!

I have no doubt in my mind about Ramires.Nene is a fluke. Just like Makukula. Scores tons of goals at a mid table club, and cant do jack at Benfica.

I do really want Gomis however. Forget Afonso Alves. He was actually voted as one of the worst players in the Prem this season.

Well Maku didn't light the league up like Nene has. Maku had 6 or 7 goals I believe. And when Maku was at Benfica, he was solid. He just never got the playing time.

Agree. I want Gomis and don't want Alves at Benfica.

I've seen Ramires play and he's got a lot of potential: 2nd defensive mid, if you will. He can both win the ball and score goals. He's probably one of Brazil's most promising CMs at the moment: was also a member of their Olympic squad last year in Beijing, iirc.

Two years ago he was topscoring in the Dutch Eredivisie (and thanks to Dunga's personal preference, was part of Brazil's Copa America-winning squad). Other than that, he barely played as a prof. in Brazil and after doing so he moved onto Sweden, where he lit up that league (but that's not necessarily saying much, imho).

No, not in Brazil, in the Netherlands with Heerenveen. He once scored 7 goals in 1 game. But that was 2 years ago. Now he's crap.

"Brazil striker Alves will spend the summer recovering from a broken metatarsal but that is unlikely to put off Benfica" from the Daily Mail.

So he's out of form and injured. Could be a great pick up

He wasn't completely shit. He wasn't able to keep up with the combined pace and physicality of the EPL. Never mind the much improved defense. I think he might find some success in A Liga as I tend to think Portugal League is somewhere in between the Netherlands and the EPL in defensive ability.

Also, Middlesboroughs defense didn't do Alves any favors as well.

The fact that hes injured should make him out of the question!!!!! Benfica would be nuts to sign an injured out of form player!

    GOMIS! Come on Benfica!!!

Nene for 2 million is pretty cheap. I though he would be worth more. Surprised actually that Nacional are not asking for more. I would pay the 2 million for Nene if he was used as a sub.

You would pay 2 million for Nene? 2 million does sound fair, considering he was the leading goal scorer, but is he really going to help Benfica? Is he really a goalscorer? His history suggests otherwise.

If I were Benfica I wouldn't want him, a waste of 2 milli. Bring back Adu, stay with Cardoso, strenthen your midfield and outside defense. Honestly Porto needs some competition in this league and it doesn't look like its going to come from Sporting anytime soon.

Great job beating Braga to secure 3rd... or was it Braga beating themselves?

True, thats the thing though. He scored some impressive goals for Nacional. He utilized both feet, headers, free kicks, long range shots. He is not extremely fast, he is simply good in all areas. Would he help? I am not sure, I would want him to be the back up to Cardoso and nothing more. Perhaps if we played a very tall openent to utilize a 2 tall striker system.

This is also in my mind as well. But essentially, if Gomis is available I rather we use that extra 2 milli and try and get him. Gomis - Cardoso I think would, or could work well.

He didn't play that much, but when he did he played fairly well. I believe he scored a few goals. Hes a good talent.

Done deal. Looks like De Guzman won't be happening. :(

Apparently Benfica payed 3.2 million euros for 50% of his pass, with the remaining 50% belonging to Cruizeiro.

I believe he is staying. Internacional sold 50 % of his rights to Benfica for 5 million Euros last year. I wonder why Benfica keeps only buying 50% if of these players lately from Brasil?

Nacional doesnt own Nene and isnt asking for 2m. I forgot what Brazilian team owns him.

Incase they suck. Its a smart thing to do,buy 50%, if their good buy the rest. Not every Brazilian is good you know, Edcarlos should us that last season. :p

I am pretty sure Nacional bought his pass from Cruzeiro for 500,000, and they own 100% of his pass. Also, there was a "bidding war" if you will for Nene's services, and I believe the highest bidder thus far was Benfica for 2 million.

Now I understand what Benfica is trying to do, but this might turn into a Marcel situation, if anyone remembers him in the past.
