Im more dissapointed in Aimar than Reyes, although both werent what I expected. But that doesnt mean I want either of them to leave. I think now that they have an entire season with benfica under their belt and had adapted to the team, they would do much better next season. Unfortunutely, we would be able to see if thats true on Reyes part.

Adu is lefty, but I doubt he will be coming back. He's more of an attacking midfielder/ Centre forward than a winger. Even if he was to return, I dont think he'd play LW. Didnt he play as a RW a few times last season?

 

I'm not disapointed at neither Aimar nor Reyes. I wasn't expecting them to come here, dribble past 11 players and score. I was expecting to help the team and they have done so. Reyes is sometimes our only threat, he has lots of creativity, can create dangerous situations alone and has been useful for us this season. If Vieira doesn't keep him I will probably not vote for him.

Aimar is a team player. Instead of guys like Martins or Assis who tryed hard passes or shots to show off Aimar is happy just playing the ball to another Benfica player, keep possession until the right moment to try and open the opponents defence. Aimar came off injured at half time against Maritimo, look how good we've been since, it's not just because he's not on the team anymore but I think it's partly because of that.

 

Your right. He will barely get any playing time. A late sub if anything. He should stay with Benfica. at least he'll be a starter.

As for Cardozo, he went from making 300,000 a year to 900,000, thats a HUGE difference! He is consistent though and I do like the guy and dont want to see him go. He had a great season last year and has 13 goals and only played half the season since Suazo and Aimar started upfront for most of the season. Good choice by Benfica to keep him instead of selling him because of the pay raise.


Hey Joelzinho, how do you feel about Scolari coming to Benfica? I know u want QF to stay, but of you had the oppurtunity to choose, would you pick Scolari>Quique?

 

if you can get scolari get him, id personally love Scolari to be SCP manager.

 

Well at this point, Scolari is saying Benfica havent made an offer, but I do think he is interested in coaching Benfica and making them a huge team again. I think if he wants to, he should get the chance. Joelzinho wants him in the future, I want him now. Scolari can easily get a job with a huge club and our chances of getting him will be slim to none in the future.

Benfica are now interested in Racing's LB Shaffer, 23 yr old Argentian. Costs a little over 2m. Not bad. But reports say Alvaro Pereira is still a possibility. (Also a LB)

 

Seems like everyone likes to Overate Cissohko because he plays for Porto. Remember Porto are very good magicians they can make players look good when in reality they are not. You can thank PDC for that

Anyways we shouldn't keep going after foreign talent all the time. I know its TOUGH to find Portuguese left backs but even so can't we win any Portuguese players in different positions?

Hes in Spain playing for Racing, not in Argentina. Hes from Argentina. But yeah you got a point. Benfica need some new scouts.

 

I wish that was our lineup now. We have all Portuguese,only 2 Brazilians and 1 greek. thats impressive. And if we had that lineup now, Benfica would be doing damage! Switch Nuno for Cardozo and we're guaranteed Champs and make it in at LEAST fround of 16in the CL.

Maybe more Portuguese does = more titles. But those players are long gone. Where can we get high quality Portuguese players now? That we can afford...

 

The one Portuguese player I really want on Benfica is Duda! What a talent. He could be our answer if Reyes does indeed leave. The guy is an LM and can play LB as well!

Maniche is also available. Hes no longer with Athleti and is a free agent. We could get him for free! I wouldnt mind Maniche at all.

I know Jorge Andrade wants to return to Portugal next season, but we dont need CBs...

Oh wow! Didnt no it was that bad! Guess there no longer going to be a powerhouse team anymore.

 

It's a shame when the top players seemingly must end up on 6 or so teams in the world. I've always liked following Valencia. Tons of talent. That Pablo Hernandez is a star in the making.
Though old, Estadio Mestalla, is a majestic ground. I guess they wanted more seats, but the timing was a killer.

 

Maybe Benfica can get some great players on the cheap.

Adu's agent is saying Adu is staying with Benfica. If this is true, this is great news. I always wanted to see more of him and want him to have a fair chance.

Don't count out Miguel, he DID say he would come back to Portugal and the only team he'd come back to is Benfica. So never say never, he doesn't hate us

We're not going to sell Cardozo I think people need to stop believing all the players being sold. I don't understand why people will not believe the players rumored in signing for us but are sooo willing to believe the players we are rumored in selling lol
