FWIW, Blind Pig is now the name of a beer (a good one that just tapped at my local incidentally), Russian River is the brewery. They make Pliny the Elder which is awesome (you need to get there and drink it fresh) and a whole load of Wild Ales which are an acquired taste but for my money are pretty spectacular. IIRC Blind Pig was the name of the brewery who first made the West Coast Double IPA style and who ultimately were bought by, or were rebranded as, Russian River. As such they have my everlasting gratitude for creating my favourite style.

Good brewery and good beer. If you like that, I can recommend their Gemini also. A little stronger, but well balanced (though a little sweet at first) and nicely hopped with a tasty piney/malty finish.
I went to the Stone Brewery in San Diego, CA. last week. I bought me a two liter bottle of Ruination and had a De Molen from Holland and a Fantome Noel(Belgium). Both were mighty tasty.
Hah, I live 10-15 min drive away from there. Anyway, this is my favorite beer: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/863/7971
Great beer! Though for my money, the hard to find Citra DIPA from Kern (the only time I located it was at Toronado in SD) is unbeatable. Simply an astonishing beer. On the subject of A+ beers, Russian River's wild ales, Supplication and Consecration amongst others are right up there. Cable Car by Lost Abbey (recently enjoyed for $40 of someone elses money at Toronado SF) is also sublime. I do find the Pliny a little overrated (it gets an A from me rather than an A+ ) and outside of a few places, it's overpriced ($8 for a pint or even a tulip at times). I find more value in the Green Flash West Coast and Racer 5 IPA, A-'s for me, but if the price is the same or close (as it is in some good beer bars), I would go with the Pliny.
my buddy ordered PTE and PTY, took 3 and half weeks to get here he was so exicted until i told him that its pointless if it isn't fresh
Umm, how did he order PTY exactly? RR don't ship it or bottle it and the only possible way would have been someone who took a growler out and sold it on eBay or something and why would anyone order a growler to be delivered? PTE on the other hand, provided it is bottled and kept refrigerated is absolutely fine after a month if not longer.
dont know how, but it cames right to his front door, bastard didnt even share kept every bottle to himself funny that you say PTE is good for a month, people are telling me its pointless if not fresh, maybe ill order some myself if unture
Very interested now - have you seen one of these PTY bottles? Pte is better fresh and any growler pour really should be drunk within a week or so, but bottles I've had lurking at the back of my fridge for a few weeks still taste great.
no i havent, but hes not one those types that make shit up maybe ill order some PTE, not like im gonna visit cali in the near future and im the selection here is weak and im growing tired of em
Then unfortunately for your friend he has been duped into buying substandard beer. Russian River just don't bottle Younger.
just got this, fecking delicious surprised we got a decent west coast IPA in this country http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/2743/22505
I tried one called Pacifco or something like that . It was in CA. It surprised me because it didnt look so good, the taste is different, very good!
I'm excited to announce that The Kerry Dixon Pub has now been opened (to a select membership). Darts, flat screens, video games and a premium selection of bottled beer. Only one beer on tap (yet to be installed), but you couldn't find a classier clientele this side of Monaco
You forgot to add that if a drink is spilled on you, washer, dyrer and ironing board are available to members. BTW, I didn't know you moved to France.
