I've had plenty - but never the Pomme. It was my desert beer, but it tasted more like great cider than beer. I had to try it at least once, and now I have. The Lindemans Cassis is by far my favorite of their lambics. As to being in Cleveland, well, it comes with the job. It 'aint that bad - Great Lakes brewpub, Winking Lizard, Bier Mark - lots of choices for great beer.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/220/1372 Lagunitas Maximus Double IPA is now on tap next to the Arrogant Bastard. The stuff may kill you. Three finished me for the night.
They have that at my local and I haven't tried it yet. It's good huh? I may get that tomorrow during the Phils and Pens games.
Had some Dogfish 120 last night. $10 a bottle ain't cheap, but damn! http://www.dogfish.com/brewings/Occasional_Rarities/120_Minute_IPA/15/index.htm
Pretty soon, that beer will be called Dogkitten. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=99249669
I will kill you now. Thus far my IPA pinnacle was some draft Pliny at Hamiltons in SD. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/863/7971/ I did have some Raisen D'Extra at a Split Thy Skull event a few years back and that was pukka but not as good as their IPA.
Ya Dogfish only ships the 120 twice a year, and only a few packies get them at all. Even the ones that do run out pretty quick and have to wait 6 months for another shipment. Pretty happy I snapped a few up while I could
I and some fellow Boston area soccer fans are going to The Boston Beer Summit tomorrow. We went last year. It was awesome.
It was good. There was a company called Southern Tier there that had the most delicious Chocolate Stout I've ever had. There was a few brand new companies too. Blue Hill brewing from Canton, Ma and one other whose name I forget. All in all it was mostly stuff I had had before, but it was still a great time and I highly recommend it.
Bump, because who doesn't love beer? I'm lucky enough to live within walking distance of a brewery. These are my favorite two at the moment:
Two ends of the spectrum there mate!! Bell's - excellent. I think I've had their DIPA and their Stout (both really good if memory serves). Sapporo - ghastly.
My buddy was telling me they had a Japanese IPA the other week and it was surprisingly good. I had another friend (a homebrewer) tell me they tried a Japanese stout and it was about the worst example of a stout he had ever tried. I believe craft brewing is taking off over there though, so probably some good examples of beer to be had. Like anywhere else, their big label beers are basically a sink pour.
