Why can't you bring your own beer?

Because this isn't Holland. Unfortunately you can't just walk around with beer wherever you want or buy it out of vending machines.

What the hell are you talking about?

The man is saying that THEY'LL provide the beer and you can't bring your own. Seems to me that has nothing to do with what you're saying.
I'm just curious why this is (maybe to raise money or something?)

Besides that, you can't drink beer everywhere here (almost though) and I've never seen any vending machines here selling beer.

I think part of the deal to tailgate on their property was to buy their beer.

Exceelent. I'll check out the place tonight and scout out the best possible route to the stadium for the walk!

    IMPORTANT NOTE:

After discussions with Dave Feeley (the new ops director) yesterday, the procession into the stadium will begin from the tailgate area at 5:20PM. Tickets will need to be in hand along with whatever else you are bringing.

We need to go then and enter through the NW gate and be in Section 8 before 5:45PM because they'll need to have additional staff at that gate to accommodate the sudden influx of fans, as well as to claim our spots in section 8 (capacity 500 for this game) before kickoff.

Also, the presentation of the poster/card to Peter Nowak will take place at 5:45PM.

The procession will follow the riverbank from the tailgate area, across the street, through the riverwalk/gazebo plaza, to the NW gate of the stadium. Map to follow.

I encourage all to participate in this parade whether you plan on attending the BB1871 tailgate or not. Just be at the tg location by 5:20PM. I will be retreving a number of flags and a banner or two for the procession during setup for Section 8 earlier in the day.

Ha. It's not as hard and fast as it might seem, but we do need to start it by that time. Not really my choice here., the staff has a schedule to keep.

Then don't show up, although that might hamper your ability to complain about it.

Hey man, just saying what I've heard. I'm not knocking on anyone here. Beer price would not affect my decision to come or not to come.

Has anyone from the Barnburners talked to the guys at RQ boardshop? I went in today and they said that they didn't know anything about the tailgating tomorrow. They are inbetween river city and features. Someone might have dropped the ball here. They are really great guys but it would be lame if no one let them know what was going on behind their own store.

Nah, it's just the country we live in. 1st amendment and all. He has the right to complain about the price of beer and you have the right to complain about him complaining.

I think having a place to tailgate is great. However, I wish it was in the parking lot of the Firehouse. There I go complaining again.

    tailgate questions

Okay, a few questions about the tailgate...

    1) How expensive was the beer?

    2) Do they serve Corona? (I've gotta support our sponsors)

    3) Are there brats for sale? (reason enough to attend)

4)Anyone is welcome to attend the parade into the stadium. Right?

    Re: tailgate questions

If I recall correctly it was 2 for 5 bucks but I didn't have any.

    Not sure.

No, it was just sandwiches Sunday but Don would have to say if there will be grilling later, I have no idea.

Indeed, and many showed up just for that. You're free to go to any restaurant or wherever as long as you show up at the tg site when it's time to go in.

Not sure when the next time we'll do that will be. I'm thinking we're going to do it on roadtrips though, and we should be able to pull it off in KC.

All hail the return of the BarnBurner tailgate.

    Good job, Don.

It was great to enjoy the nice weather outside rather than a dingy smoke-filled room with lousy service. And contrary to previously expressed fears, the monetary damages were not as bad as predicted. (Ten bucks for a couple beers and a couple sandwiches in downtown nappyville isn't all bad.) (About half as much as a certain nearby establishment with bad service and ... oh yeah, already mentioned that.)

If you didn't make it to the first one, for whatever reason, put it on your agenda for the match on the 10th and see what new surprises the BB's have in store.

(And you don’t need to belong to the BarnBurners to partake – although I’m sure no one would object if you decided to join up.)

(And if you do decide to join, I suspect you would be able to claim your own personal copy of the Peter Nowak commemorative poster awarded to Peter just prior to the New England game.)
