I may have been a moderator there , but I have no Idea whats gone on , Its just a gut feeling Jan pulled the pin !! I think the writings was on the wall when the advertising dissapeared some months back - but that may have had no bearing on the situation Anyways its just good to see some of the old crew here & lets hope we can find more of them
I've been reading the other refuge where the admins shipwrecked - apparently, Jan is in the process of moving and can't be contacted. The host isn't allowed to share info with anyone other than the owner of record...
No one knows for sure. The rumours are running rampant. I reckon the server overloaded and Jan did not prune his topics, members, logs and such. However, it could be worse and the XT DB and other SA sites DB's could have crashed and as a result everything could be lost. It's happened to me in the past on that server.
One thing of note I have noticed in the past though, is when the boards were down , Porto onling , the Milan Mania all went down at the same time - but this time they are still going !!
Eventhough I don't think he would abandon ship, i've already outlined what I think happened, I wouldn't be surprised if he did. I know for a fact that XT is losing boatloads of cash. Why would be keep it opened then? As a charity to the internet?
Porto Online is still going because I cut all ties to Xtratime and the Soccer Alliance. I know run the site on my own server, a much better one to boot. I don't know about the other sites though. I know juventuz.com is still alive because we are both hosting on the same company.
If that was the case , why wasnt he open about it ??? I wouldve done the same thing but probably earlier !!
I believe he went on record several times about it. I also believe he proposed a membership scheme, that so many members objected to....and now look at the situation. Again, it's a tech issue. No more, mo less.
Oh well it was probably better this way!! I feel for guys like Colo Colo who were averaging like 600 posts a day !!!! I swear they must be in a institute by now !!!
The verdict is in. Jan simply didn't pay his bills for the month, as of this exact moment he is paying the bills and XT should be back online withing 24-48 hours because of DNS adjustments that your ISP's make every few hours. It may be back even sooner for some.
