When you get relegated you get dropped into a random league full of teams from a different country. Would be hilarious to see lol.
Nope. I watched BVB - Bayern on Dutch Fox Sport. They added stadium noise. That was bloody annoying, as you could see the fakeness of it from the shots showing the empty stands. Apart from the match being bad, many faulty passes probably due to the extended time of not playing, it was so annoying I stopped watching. I can understand the broadcasters argument. They bought an experience for their subscribers, which includes fans interaction with what goes on on the pitch. Matches without fans are a fake product as clubs with an intimidating atmosphere are basically playing an exhibition game. Not what the networks paid for. Just compare it to be promised a steaming hot porn movie and what you get served is a movie with everybody wearing clothes.
Which is why a lot of basketball euroleague teams have basically a Euroleague and a domestic League squad. There's a Euro match almost every midweek, sometimes two in between the League.
Yes, empty stadia is a negative contributing factor that could impact TV viewership. But the factors I listed have a positive impact on viewership. The recent Michael Jordan documentary series smashed all kinds of ratings records on ESPN. People are bored. Clearly. They have more free time, there are no new movies to see, no restaurants to go to, can't travel far, spend less time hanging with friends and family. They will watch the football (and then complain afterwards about how much it sucked due to the lack of atmosphere, not realizing that by saying football sucks with no crowd makes them look like a bit of a wanker)
They have to pay for it though. The return to Bundesliga was a smash hit, with all time viewership, but that was also free. Now that it isn't, Sky is running package deals and special Bundesliga prices. It will be kind of difficult to sell people a worse product (take the Premier League which is already finished as far as the title goes) for the same price.
This Golf charity match featuring Tiger, Phil Mickelson, Brady and Manning broke viewing records of all competitive Golf majors as well. People at home are starved for sports and significant amount of them haven't cancelled sports channels either even during the pandemic. That's why The Last Dance had great ratings and same for this celebrity, pro mixed Golf on TNT. The Match was the most-watched Golf telecast in cable history. It raised $20 million for COVID-19 relief 👏👏pic.twitter.com/EosCCwROIP— Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) May 25, 2020
Schalke are half assing it, i feel like they didn't really want to return to football. Almost every single goal they conceded has been from a catastrophic individual mistake or multiple ones. They seem like they haven't played for years.
Schalke are winless in the last 10 games, Hiring Wagner is a terrible decision. Sometimes their shithousery and superior talents get them results They have enough resources to be a stable top 4 team, One of the richest teams in the league They have one of the best academies in Europe. they need a stable attacking philosophy. They have scored more goals than only 4 teams in the entire league. the 3 relegation teams and Union Berlin I think they need someone like LvGaal for 2 seasons
I’m glad my network hasn’t added in the fan noise. I prefer to hear the players yelling at each other
Gives you an inside on how the team itself works - who is in the command and how they treat each other. Helps if it is the team you follow to recognize who is the one shouting.
I don't understand German so i don't care I will look forward to hearing in Spanish what the players say

The reason the Spanish league will blend in crowd noise is because of the players swearing all the time.
