i'm not convinced they got hosed but i can accept the POV of those who think so. i'm still upset that what i thought was a reasonable shout for penalty got zero reaction from taylor or replay on the one where somebody got trucked. like, it may or may not have been penalty but at least give it a look.
We need another midfielder, Partey is still not good under pressure. Spurs let him pick out passes, I doubt any other manager will allow that.
Is it fair to point out that, for all of their vaunted Conte-led defense, Tottenham have conceded 7 in their last 3 matches against us, Leicester, and Sporting?
I was critical of him a few games ago for playing at such a slow pace around t he box, standing on the ball. I was fascinated with his ability today to do so and still manage to wiggle space from a standing position. And like you said his mindfulness to draw defenders in to create space elsewhere. Credit to him. He was really good today.
Apparently. I didn’t know he was officially vice-captain. But he’s been de facto captain in many ways for a while now.
21-year-old William Saliba has played 720 minutes of Premier League football without being successfully dribbled past by an opponent. And he's won possession more times than any other player in the league. 🧊 pic.twitter.com/0s3W3YoOTS— Squawka (@Squawka) October 1, 2022
i've always said he's like Laca but faster. Jesus is the first target Arsenal has signed in like 10 years that I thought would be perfect addition for us. Wouldn't have to change our style much from Laca to Jesus, Jesus can cover more ground, that's all. Not as strong as LACA DA TANK but he's strong enough!
I was a Saliba “groupie” from the moment Arsenal signed him. I was upset last year when Arsenal spent £50m on White, because I felt he wasn’t needed, though in retrospect it was a good buy, I watched as many of Marseille’s European games as I could to watch Saliba play, but I feel like he has exceeded even my expectations. He undoubtedly will make mistakes this season, some of those mistakes my even cost Arsenal goals, however I have been completely surprised by his composure under pressure. It seems unnatural for a twenty-one year old to be so confident and composed. Stan needs to open his wallet, to get Saliba’s signature on a contract.
I dunno. I think it's definitely orange-ish. Fwiw, most of the folks in the refs forum here were surprised because of what you can normally get away with in the Prem but they thought it should be a red.
Laca never scores that goal Jesus did today ---- would have been nowhere near in position to pounce on that ball like that.
Honestly, this is the absolute best-case end to the White/Saliba debates. I’m happy we can both be proven mostly right
Agree with this. I’ve had reservations about White as a fullback, because he plays so narrow and it makes Saka worse, but the moment he started overlapping in the second half today we tore Sperz to shreds.
Top of the league but can't rest on our laurels. Still haven't beaten anyone good yet.— Phil Costa (@_PhilCosta) October 1, 2022
He is like the Laca that Arsenal fans pretended was good at link up and combination and back to goal. Jesus is legitimately good to otherworldly at that stuff, while Laca put effort into that stuff. He also can move around and actually get into position to make a difference in the box, which is nice.
the only bad thing is i can't decide if i want to fangirl over that turn and dribble in our box more or the no-fucks nutmeg of skipp in their box.
oof. i don't think i've ever seen this with our away fans. Just live for Spurs players clapping a load of empty seats 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 pic.twitter.com/tK6yK4ZlTL— Tim Stillman (@Stillmanator) October 1, 2022
okay, i was a few off. Thomas Partey’s goal against Tottenham was his 57th attempt from outside the box in the Premier League since joining Arsenal, with it being his first goal from outside the area. 😅 [Sky]Granit Xhaka certainly enjoyed it. ❤️ #afc pic.twitter.com/XJA8g78DJy— afcstuff (@afcstuff) October 1, 2022
