Kickoff from Ashburton Grove is at 3:00pm GMT/10:00am EST/5:00am HST. Peacock provides the coverage on the telly Stateside. Two weeks in a row with an old-school Saturday afternoon kickoff! Sunderland have been a nice story, but they’re bad on their travels. This is an incredible opportunity to go nine points clear and force City into must win territory when they visit Anfield on Sunday. Let’s put these cats to the sword and extract a little revenge while we’re at it. Up the Arsenal.
They currently sit in 8th place. A loss for them in this match could see them drop to 12th on other results and goal differences, but a win would put them back into a European qualification position. They are still a solid, well-coached side and have everything to play for. It likely won't be a blowout. Right now feels like a 2-0 win with both goals in the first half and a game-managed 2T to keep the shutout.
I pray for a win AND especially way better footy than Tuesday… from both teams! I’m privileged to attend this one also. And to give you an idea of where we sit atop the football pyramids, our boys faces are plastered all over this town. And nobody else!
We win this one and I’m afraid you’ll be required to stay and keep scoring tickets until we drop points.
I'm ridiculously compelled to buy L'Oreal hair products now, and I'm practically bald. Hope my wife can find a use for them...
Every game is a must win it seems. This one is a second bite at the apple (Forest away) where as I said in another thread we can put one hand on the handle if we win. Very little chance City wins at Anfield. Given both sides form, I can see a draw and our win and their draw it will be 8 points. That's a bit too much at this stage. Another possible dropped points for them is home to Newcastle as our toughest game of the month is away to Spurs. City would seem to have the advantage beating Newcastle 3 times this season but as a person who used to do fairly well in sports gambling. Its very, very hard to beat a decent team 4 times in the same season. We experienced that many years ago with 'Boro. Played them twice in the league, FA cup tie, 2 legs over the league cup, 2nd leg being the 5th time we played them and that was the only time we lost to them. Similarly with us playing Chelsea in '04, beat or drew with them in the league twice, beat them in the FA cup, away draw first leg of the CL QF and lost to them in the 2nd leg. Similar might happen to City, I think they will draw that game. We will beat Spurs I believe as they will come out to play after embarrassing themselves in the home match and it will play into our hands. 3-2 or 2-1 game. They have a lot of injuries and late in the game can't make subs that have the same impact as us. Anyway, I think by march we'll be no worse than 9 or 10 points ahead. If the Oracles are right and the proper sacrifices are made.
I recently found my pictures from the last match of that season, taken on an actual film camera. Need to scan them.
I did get a new printer with a scanner, good time to figure out how that works. They aren't the best because a) I'm a terrible photog and b) was in the Lower West so the upper part of the stand is hanging over every shot. I also, stupidly, only brought one roll of film and was taking stupid in game pictures so by the time they paraded around I only got one shot
Funny the only film still I have of Arse is also from Highbury’s West stand, mid 70’s when my friends had moved away and I no longer felt safe standing in the Northbank (alone) so paid the whopping £4 or whatever to sit in civilization. I remember it was Villa and the picture quality sucks so I won’t bother scanning.
Unless you are in your 80s, not all of us. A year after graduating from College, I was subject to the first draft lottery for the Vietnam War (#264).
OK you got me! And let me just say I’ll be thrilled if I’m as sharp as you are when I hit my 80s. Sorry about Nam if you had to serve there.
In other news, Mikel said today: on Saka’s hip: His hip is getting much better, so yes, hopefully very soon he will be with us. Very soon, very soon. on Odegaard and Timber: Martin again is getting better, it will be a matter of days we believe, and Jurrien’s fine. on Dowman’s availability: Max hasn’t trained with us yet, so it will be still a few weeks I think, but it’s getting better yes. p.s. of course Merino is now out for much if not all of the remaining season
Ayo Sorry, mister! Much respect to you. I also appreciate how I couldn’t tell your age because going never threw it out there as some authority.
