USA: October 20 - 1:00pm vs PSV Eindhoven (Europa League) - Paramount+ CAN: October 20 - 1:00pm vs PSV Eindhoven (Europa League) - DAZN Leeds exposed a fair bit against us, but then again they were full of run and we looked like a team who has played a billion games in October. That said Leeds have had 7 days between games and have had 3 games in October. Either way, winners are grinners and losers can please themselves. 3 points in the bag and we move on to another European night at the Emirates. A win against PSV guarantees we go into the next stages of the tournament, and that we can play youth teams for the last group stage matches. I feel Arteta will rotate a few players, but still have strength in the team. We might see Gabriel and Jesus rested, Jesus didn't look right V Leeds and Gabriel was a rock but he played against Bodo and Leeds. Might see the Holding/Saliba combo. Not sure if we had any injuries coming out of the Leeds match, we likely know in the coming days. Was a taxing match so would imagine we have some sore boys. PSV sit second in their league, and second in our group. Not expecting an easy match here. Tipping Arsenal 2-1 PSV, with goals from Nketiah and Vieira. COYG!
This was supposed to be the City match, wouldn't feel great about them coming off a loss and Arsenal coming off a struggle against Leeds. Win guarantees advancement but doesn't guarantee finishing first in the group if PSV wins the return leg next week. Winning the group avoids an extra round against a 3rd place Champions League team and the two extra matches that would entail, so it's important. A win this week and a draw next week would guarantee first and make the Zurich match irrelevant.
Exactly. So the only way I can imagine Mikel doing wide scale rotation or "playing the kids" is if we've clinched top spot, which as you say is not happening for at least 2 more matches. p.s. This match will be shown en Espanol on TUDN in the States, as per usual.
we need 4 points out of the last 3. if we can grab a win in the first PSV game, it might be risky but maybe worthwhile to take it easy in the second PSV game and play for a draw vs zurich? the second PSV game is still in the midst of this october stretch where that zurich game is towards the end and we could see light at the end of the tunnel then. and zurich is probably the easier team to snag a draw against?
i think we saw a big boost to gabriel from the rest vs bodo glimt. he looked visibly off pace vs liverpool and was phenomenal yesterday. saliba, by contrast, looked off after playing vs bodo glimt (not sure how much is fatigue and how much is physical reaction to that surface). like you said, that midfield looked gassed. martinelli did as well. he still efforted and probably saved our bacon more than a few times playing nearly a LWB but he had no zip and couldn't get past kristensen.
I guess it comes down to what they value most. Does the club think we will finish top 4 in the league, or want to win Europa League? There are rumors we will make purchases in the next transfer window to help our depth. If we value the league, then rest the kids here because a loss to Southampton with tired legs would be a big problem. I suspect we end up with a strong team but have guys like Nelson and Marquinhos start and bring on Martinelli or Saka if we are in danger.
Anybody have any experience with the replay situation on Paramount+? How long after the final whistle do they become available?
I haven’t rewatched or watched something I missed on Paramount, but my impression is it’s the next day.
RvN has his team firing all cylinders. This won't be easy. Time to see how good Gakpo and Xavi Simmons are.
so, according to charles watts, zinchenko and martinelli sat out today's practice due to calf injury and an illness, respectively. zinchenko, hasn't even practiced in a while, is, unsurprisingly, out and along with smith-rowe and elneny. martinelli is not confirmed as out for tomorrow, only that he sat out today's practice due to feeling a bit under the weather. Scrap that on Martinelli. Word now from Arsenal is that he is just feeling a bit under the weather. That’s why he is sitting the session out. Should be OK for tomorrow. https://t.co/GCRvonulte— Charles Watts (@charles_watts) October 19, 2022
man's got a point. Ruud van Nistelrooy and Arsenal have history 😅 pic.twitter.com/eo5mRg5B4e— ESPN UK (@ESPNUK) October 20, 2022
New faces on the CBS/P+ pregame show, including quirky oldThomas Rongren... haven't seen him in several years since BeIN went south in our country. Showing his age a bit more, with hearing aides and copious sun spots! But still has more to offer than many of the "pundits" that show up on these shows. They just showed that RvP/Keown moment... classic! Signing off now, as I have contractors showing up to do a big job. COYG!!!!
