Scott did say this Age 23-24 can often be the peak of a wide player so it's not improbable if what he was in 23/24 and 24/25 is the best ever version of him.
There are statistics and there are anomalies, like Salah and Semenyo.. We can always hope Saka is an anomaly.
I said Gyokeres was the right choice for this season, but don’t discount Sesko, he’s 5 years younger and has the speed to punish tired defenses.
He just came back from a serious injury. The lack of transparency about injuries leads fans to think everyone should be fine after having a muscle ripped off their bone. Even then, he is among the European leaders in completed dribblers which has not been his normal. I think he is a a league leader among wingers in chances created and fouls as well. Saka's issue this season is he don't trust his body as much to sprint, and I think he has been more selfish than usual.
PGMOL is very fortunate we won this late. Had this ended in a 0-0 draw, that no-penalty call for Keene tripping Kai would be headline news. Here is the US, it’s hard to find any footage of it, and there’s hardly anyone discussing it online.
He is weird in some games where he is taking shots from very low percentage positions where the move is to pass or recycle the ball, and on the flip side there has been lots of moments especially with Gyokeres where he has made the right run into the channel and Saka burns him and recycles the ball to the CBs. If he inverted those, Gyokeres would have had more chances at goal and other teams would have had less goal kicks. I was not shocked at the outrage for the correct Madueke penalty, soft as it may have been, vs the complete lack of discussion over the far worse foul on Havertz which was also a clear penalty. But then this year I have come to expect it.
There's no way he's shutting himself down, so let's just kill that. Club will have to mitigate for tired players next season, which means the squad refresh is needed. You get 5 yrs with a core group in today's game so this window will be critical for the club moving forward. It's clear Super Mik is leaning into what wins, I see nuff links to defenders. Or maybe that's just who's publicly linked who knows. Would like a winger and another midfielder. Other than that I dunno.
Ted agrees with you. From this morning's transfer flow: "This was the weekend Arsenal won the Premier League. Well, sort of. It’s the weekend the gambling odds tipped them over into 90% or more to win, which is close to certain? Sphincters of Arsenal fans are notoriously tight, and for good reason given how frequently they had come to a title winning the title in recent seasons only to fall short, but this one looks imminently likely."
WTF????? 🚨 The Premier League’s KMI Panel has deemed Arsenal should have had a penalty for Michael Keane’s challenge on Kai Havertz, against Everton. The panel voted 5-0 that the on-field decision was incorrect but 3-2 voted VAR was correct to have NOT intervened. ❌ [@DaleJohnsonBBC] pic.twitter.com/6S9L4EEAvn— DailyAFC (@DailyAFC) March 26, 2026
Just nonsensical. This was exactly the type of scenario in which VAR should intervene---ref screened by the players' positioning such that he misses a clear stomp on Havert'z heel/ankle. FFS, he was through with the ball under control. Why would he tumble?
