A perk/downside of the Champions League is that I'm usually distracted by work. Weekend matches get all my attention and stress.
Dowman on for Zubi obviously panned out. I actually feel Zubi has a better shot and heading better than Max but Zubi is, understandably defensively minded.
Like, winning comfortably is its own kind of fun and would be better for our collective health, but there’s nothing like the explosion of joy that comes from a finish like this. If it happens again on Tuesday I will full on French kiss whatever random stranger is next to me.
I wasn't able to watch football today. In retrospect, I'm so glad I didn't suffer thru 89 minutes of agony on top of other priorities, but man, did I enjoy seeing the result and watching the last 10 minutes plus celebrations before dinner. And now with the result from The London Stadium to boot.
If we win 5 of the next 7, any 5, City have to win out (8 for 8) AND beat our goal differential. With our remaining EPL schedule, 5 wins looks very doable. I'm not sure City can win out with their current form.
I managed to miss this one flying home after a work trip. Accidentally saw the score but didn't know when the goals were scored, seeing them leave it so late was funny rather than nerve-racking. Maybe this is the way going forward.
Nah you gotta watch live when you can and ‘as live’ when you can’t. Otherwise you aren’t actually getting the full experience. It’s not going to be as cathartic for you when we win every fvcking competition!!!
If City go 8 for 8 that means they beat Arsenal, who would then have to win 5 of the other 6. That said, if Arsenal beat the Cherries at home and City drop points at Stamford Bridge, which is maybe the likely outcome based on form, then City absolutely have to get all 3 points against Arsenal. They will be forced to throw numbers in attack which should leave them vulnerable to the counter.
I agree 100% and yet I feel completely satisfied having taken this approach today (albeit having been completely preoccupied).
With that in mind, the most important result on Saturday may very well have been Newcastle beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
What a dramatic win! Dowman, showed more in 20 minutes than Martinelli and Madueke have all season, but it’s worrying to see such a young player being the one taking initiative and showing more composure than the so-called senior players. Let's hope the break does us some good, the team looks really tired.
Was thinking the exact Same thing last night. I had the good luck to attend “the Reiss Nelson match” and I will never forget it. Peeps at the Grove last night probably the same.
Don't see why The only thing he can't do is change in the locker room due to child protection laws. Nwaneri and MLS had to change in a separate area as well. Maybe so that he doesn't say anything crazy in the moment like F Spurs....lol .
My understanding is that it's both due to his age but also the likelihood that he has had zero media training as well. I've seen it comes under the same rules that prevent any of the under 18s players and younger changing in the same change rooms with the adults for child protection laws (i.e like Nwaneri last season).
That was a must win game. Everton had won 2 in a row and are still fighting for a spot in Europe. They are also often a banana skin game for us home and away so winning was crucial. I didn't get to see the game, only short highlights but Everton were never going to be a roll over. We also seem to do well with results if we play before City, so if we could have all our non-City remaining games played before theirs that would be super. Also amazing work by Gyokeres and Martinelli on the corner before the Max goal and incredible work by Dowman to hit Hincapie on the spot for the dick assist. Pinpoint precision. And now Max holds the record for youngest EPL goal. There are plenty of highlights this season, lots of incredible moments, I love the fact that today's game gave us the Calafiori Scorpion block and the Dowman open goal. To quote our favourite photographer I ********ing love this club.
