Atletico will do a Newcastle, defend deep and counter. They succeed 0-0 or 1-1 with us chasing the game. Hopefully we score early pull them out, counter and hammer 'em.
I would assume depending on opponents we likely start with a combination of; Rice/Zubi/Eze With Nwaneri for Eze, Merino for Rice or Zubi and maybe Trossard for Eze or Zubi (less likely but he was in MO's role last year) subbing on, and occasionally starting Merino over Rice, or Nwaneri over Eze, And likely we see the dreaded Rice/Zubi/Merino midfield again. It does really depend on how long Odegaard is out for.
Yeah mine was on the harsh end of the scale and was high impact + bad luck, I have also seen MCLs where they recover in weeks. Will be interesting to see how long he is out for. I won't be shocked if he only misses the international break.
Yup, an not surprising at all. This inverted LB thing still seems to have legs in Mikel's overall tactical plans. So, also not surprising is how and where our RB played "complimentarily"
Calafiori is one of the most winger-like full backs I've seen. He goes forward very well. And makes runs into the box area. 99 percent of other wingers go wide for their run to cross into the box. He'll go where forwards go at times. His defending has gotten a wee bit better I think as he's gotten to use the pace of the wingers in the league.
Arteta must win a trophy is widely said. So, if the only thing we win is the League cup, will that be okay?
Same, but even if I entertain the premise, no. The League Cup is a waste of time. Whether we go out immediately or win the whole thing is of absolutely no consequence to me.
All the major network and youtube pundit shows were and are saying that including AFTV. One may not agree it is but its a fact the major platforms say that when discussing Arsenal.
Also worth noting that Gabriel, Saliba, Timber, Zubi, Rice and their respective backups are so good at being in the right positions that Calafiori's roaming doesn't lead to opposition goals.

Not caring is not the point. The original point is its been talked about and because it has, is the league cup enough. The aforementioned links attest to the validity of the question.
Calafiori seemingly out of position (by design, inverted role) was a worry for me. But we play great team defense. No other club in the league presses the way do in the opposition half and stifle counters better than we do. I like how hard we work to get the ball back once we lose possession in the other teams half.
My post wasn't disputing one way or the other if "they" were widely saying it. I still reject that premise that "Arteta has to win a trophy." Have to or what? The context of the season matters. Addendum: as an aside, I wouldn't throw my lot in with AFTV for any insightful analysis. It's better than the "Wenger Out" days but only marginally.
Excuse me sir, can you point me to your same comment on this thread where the next several games were discussed as this is a match day thread not a fixture list thread? As well as your same comment on a post on Atletico coming up as this is a match day thread and not a CL thread? Didn't see your posts. I'm sure I overlooked them. Help me find them please or maybe this thread is a combination match day, fixture list, CL thread and the league cup is isn't allowed to be mentioned?
Never named you specifically or said i was responding your post. Another person said "And who is widely saying it?" I was addressing that.
I think the League cup would be a wonderful trophy as it is given in March and could be used as motivation for a run at the title. Yes, they have the motivation already. In his first season Mourinho used the league cup in the same manner as I said prior. It was a chance for his players to lift a trophy and it was late February at the time, and that feeling, in theory, whetted their appetite for more. Also, Alex Ferguson said when they were below Chelsea and Arsenal during that time, he went after the league cup because he felt the players shouldn't lose the feeling of lifting a trophy. I am of the same mind. If its the only trophy we lift, I'll be disappointed. Not sure how I'd feel if the FA cup is the only trophy we lift as I think we are good enough for an EPL title and CL trophy. But lets see how things pan out.
I think @cooper7d7 was just makin a joke, referencing years-old gripes about off-topic posts. And I took it to be directed at @yossarian, or even at myself, moreso than at you.
Appreciate it. The internet isn't always good at conveying tone and nuance. Apologires to cooper7d7. Unable to delete it.
I think with the amount we have spent on the squad and the time and backing Arteta has, on the back of three 2nd place finishes the only thing that takes the heat off Arteta regarding pundits, many of whom failed as managers and whose opinions mean nothing, is an EPL or UCL trophy. And really, as harsh as I am on Mikel at times (sometimes unfairly), I badly want him to win both trophies at Arsenal. Not just because he is an ex player and now manager but because I feel like externally Arteta is judged far far differently than other managers. Feel like if Arteta had somehow won the league in his first full season, it would be about how he "didn't do it with his squad" or "didn't put in the time to earn it" or some bullshit. As an Arsenal fan, all trophies are good trophies, be it league cup/community shield etc, but end of the day right now the only trophies that really matter in this climate for a big club like ours is the EPL and the UCL.
