Yup, And several mins later he's coming off (Merino replacing him). Eze also off (Martinelli)

Maybe Decs can earn a little breather from ENG duty... wishful thinking.

Another blatant foul on Gyokeres not called.

Victor G must be flippin frustrated. Compared to what his life as a forward was like in Portugal. Let's hope he has patience, confidence and belief.

the refs have been allowing VG to get beat up in just about every match this season so far. they seem to have zero interest in calling a foul in his favor.

Gyökeres needs to get mugged before he gets a call. Sheesh.

He must hate the EPL since he came to us all he has copped is being double teamed, smacked in the face, clawed in the face, rugby tackled constantly without the ball, fouled without the ball and Saka took the penalties.

He does NEED to get stronger and more aggressive, though. Getting bodied off the ball too easily, like Havertz.

That was classic Gyokeres for us. Ball came to him, his first touch was off his chest, not bad, but the defender closed on him so that he couldn't get a clean shot off quick enough.

The WH corners and crosses into the box worry me a bit, I want a clean sheet

I know heading is not Saliba's strength, but how does he not even jump on that corner? Could've been costly.

Silly me. Should've known better than to get my hopes up. Dominant performance, though.

    HT ARS 2-0 WHU

The rest of the stats really tell the story of pure dominance...

    Shots.. 21(5) - 4(0)
    xG.. 2.73 - 0.49
    Poss.. 69% - 31%
    Corners.. 8 -3
p.s. TOTL... at least for an hour or two

WHU came to defend and were very fortunate to only leave with a 2-0 loss.

    Proper anti-football.

End of the day we won, clean sheet, onwards and upwards.

When we get to the last matchday and we have our hands on the EPL trophy, no one will think back to this match and thats fine by me. Sometimes, especially considering WHU beat us in this fixture last season, you just take the win and move on.

Clean sheet, 2 goals. Can't complain. A professionally done game.
Curious what Arteta's screen name on here is because he obviously reads the forum and decided to be more attacking.
West Ham didn't do too badly. Loss aside, they seem more solid than they have been all season. They will improve and get more points.
Top to bottom we have the best squad in the league and no worse than possibly 2nd or 3rd in Europe in depth at each position. Might argue best.
We created a lot of chances and that's vitally important.

We Seem to be doing better against teams set up in a low block and playing the quick counter. WHU barely challenged our defense. We created lots of good chances, but still need to do better converting them.

First-gear win. Would’ve been nice to score 4, but that was solid.

Corner defense could use a little bit of work.
