Really loving the energy of Douzi in midfield

he always tries to turn or travel to create some space

We have 1 defender on the bench (Luiz). Mustafi didn't travel.

With all the youth on the pitch and not one of our 6 new signings are on the pitch today, and Mustafi didn't even make the bench.

If he doesn't leave before the window closes, then he'll never leave.

Amazing pass from Mkhi - deserved an assist

    Auba can't convert

Didn't we lose AMN to injury in the opening game last season? Hope this isn't serious.

That's bern my favorite thing about him. The way he turns and moves quickly forward into space. Nobody does that as well on our team, not even Ozil.

Soft yellows for Mhki and Nelson
Willock was dragged down by his collar directly in front of ref and no card

Is Tony Pulis managing Newcastle now? These foul and the hackathon going on are getting ridiculous

It used to be a key part of Ozil's game but he lost that explosive power to get the half break

For a rather up-tempo opening half the number of real chances at either end have been sparse.

We need to bring up the quality of our passing a notch if we're to get a result on Tyneside.

Looks like we're still in pre-season.

Arsenal still don't understand that aimless crossing simply triggers a transition.

The likes of City don't do that - they create pullbacks or diagonals which break down the defence.

We don't seem to have a clear plan of how to create big chances

Not much to speak of. Mikhi with the best opportunity I can recall. Rain making the passes heavy and the teams have been adapting as best they can.

On the bright side I don't think anyone looks poor and Arsenal has the quality on the bench to change the tenor of the match. Need a moment of inspired play to happen.

Ping the ball to Aubameyang seems to be our game plan. Our corners suck too.

    The good

Guendouzi has been very good. Very active. Some good passing. Good positional awareness.

Willock - Looked good on the wing. Good pace.

    The bad

Passing out of the back. Way too many poor passes from the central defenders.

    The ugly

Mki was pretty terrible for most of the half. He redeemed himself a little late in the half but otherwise not good.

I am still struggling to understand what Emery's overall idea is

BTW in our new away kit we do indeed look more like Watford than Arsenal. :(

Think we might see Ceballos and either Laca or Pepe come on at the 60+ mark

Jose M had made the point at half time that Arse looked weak in the transition

    That was much better

Wiloock has really dropped off in the second half. Would like to see him get more playing time, but needs a sub, imo.

Yeah - still a pretty rough talent.

Good to see him subbed out.
