I’m also concerned that all the proposed alternatives in our team...

are not actually any more mobile than he is.

With better passing range from the CBs Xhaka could become redundant. Luiz is a start. Emery could also move Luiz to the midfield.:)

Guendouzi Ceballos Ozil would be reasonably mobile. A touch too open, but against teams where we could keep the ball it would be fine.

Right now, I’d like to try:

    —Ceballos
    Duzy—Torreira

But I’d prefer Ceballos closer to the CBs so he can bring the ball up and get moves going. Problem is, Duzy would be wasted higher up and Torreira has to start deep.

    Or:
    ————Ozil
    Ceballos—Torreira

But I’d be scared of getting overrun in the middle with that set up.

    Maybe:
    Laca/Auba——Pepe
    ————Ozil
    ——Duzy—Ceballos
    ———Torreira

Ceballos in the Cazorla role, still has help from 2 other mids, and we get to field Ozil.

    I don’t know, just thoughts

There are no weaker teams, like 18 teams in the league can ball. Which is why there are only two teams who can with the league. And, only one team you can say will 100% last the length of the season.

So you can carry one rash defender and either that is Xhaka or Luiz. I'd rather it be Luiz. At one point as if he completely forgot what the plan was Xhaka "sprinted" to the right flank to tackle the ball carrier. Of course the ball was gone by the time he got there and the center was wide open.

Luiz' individual mistakes don't quite amount to a inability to stick to a plan.

    Ozil is washed up

    Rather play a 433

    .....ceb...douzi
    ........torreira

That is easily our best midfield

The modern day 10 is dead fam

Guendouzi is not that mobile or quick. People think he is because of the hair and he is young, but he isn’t.

    Yes.

People think he is a quicker and more mobile player because of his hair.

He isn’t, but he’s faster than Torreira and Xhaka.
