Just wondering if anyone has signed up for DirectKick through Adelphia yet? I had a really nice CSR who found all the information about it but her and her supervisor couldn't find the codes even after 20 minutes of search. Anyone have any luck yet?
I ordered it earlier this week. Everything went very smoothly. The CSR had all of the info and was quite pleasant. I chalked it up to another positive step for soccer in the US. But then Adelphia called back yesterday and said that they had decided to cancel it this year due to lack of interest. They said they did the same thing with the NBA Season Pass. Did anyone else get this message? They spoke to my wife who relayed the message to me so I don't have any details. But if this is true, I'm pissed. Murf
Ugh! I got the same song and dance too about not carrying it. Spoke to Linda - pretty good, but no Courtney. Here's the corporate number: (303) 268-6540 That's where you should call on Monday to complain.
I was told that this was done to make room for HDTV, not a lack of interest. Thanks for the number, Knave, I will call Monday. I probably do need to get off my duff and get a Dish. If Verizon would offer broadband in the area I could drop these morons permanently. The thread title implies that this is an "annual" dance. Is there any realistic hope that they will change their mind?
Adelphia has been stringing me along...I called at 8:45am this morning to order Direct Kick and the CSR said she doesn't have the codes in her computer yet, but is sending email to her supervisor to request the codes. It's been worrisome to look at the inDemand sports PPV channels in my digital cable guide all week and not seeing any of the Direct Kick matches scheduled.
The same dance also in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We have Adelphia Digital and afther a couple of calls they told me that InDemand requieres and number of subcriptions to provided the codes. They dont sell enough MLS packages so they arent receving the codes. That doesnt surprised me. They NEVER make any promotion of the package. The thing is that the interactive menu is ofering all the information about the Direct Kick and the correct games and hours. Please post any information. This is only for Adelphia clients?
Anyone hear anything further? I had to call them last night about my bill, and brought up the Direct Kick again. The woman, said that the decision was made because most of games that the DK has on will be covered on channels they already have. Naturally, I called them on their bs.. and I even mentioned how last year for the 'local team' I would have only seen half the games. And I only consider the games of the week on FSW and ESPN/2/ABC as a bonus to being to see the Revs matches week in, week out. Anyway, they also said that there had been quite a few complains and the will file one for me, and maybe we can get it back for next year. Yup, well, maybe next year the Dish will have it in addition to this year.
I just called the number above - it's the president's office apparently. I recommend everyone call them. The line I got was this: Indemand's price was raised, so it raised their costs and the price of the package. The demand was low before, and they figured demand would be even lower now. So it's gone this season. Apparently I wasn't the only one to call and complain today.
I called at about 4:30 EDT today. Talked to someone about this. Same story. I asked if there was any chance of getting Direct Kick this year and was basically told no. Looks like I need to find out which is better DirectTV or Dish.
I had the same experiance wiith Bright House Networks in Orlando. In fact, on Saturday I spent an hour on the phone with these morons. They said they will credit my account; we'll see how much. Anyone know if any of the 2 games this week will be on DirectKick? I don't care if they are nationally televised, if a game belongs the package it better be on (outside of reasons beyond their control, like another match taking longer than expected). Perhaps we should launch a unified campeign against these compaines some how...last week was supposed to be a free preview weekend, MLS could have made some money. Someone turn on the lights at BHN!!!!
Called again, one CSR couldn't find the codes so I got bumped to the regional call center. She didn't have the codes just told me to keep calling in and trying. It must be cancelled like you all are saying, like Warren, I don't see the games in the PPV schedule. I'll call the president's office next week. Sigh, I guess we just regroup for next year.
Well, I finally got a call back, a week after my complaint(s) was(were) filed. According to the woman, who I believe was one of the local office staff here in central Vermont, there was a bid placed on the package in order to carry it, and Adelphia's bid didn't cut it, so thats that. My bet is that they didn't even realize that they raised the base price. I was willing to pay a little extra per month to be able to get some pretty cutting edge channels and tech, for Vermont that is, but I've had it. Every time I get word that they carry a new channel (GolTV, ESPN Deportes, etc) in their Latino markets, I send a very polite email to ask if they are considering adding it to my market. In response, I get a curt voice mail saying 'We don't have that channel.' Not, 'we are looking at such-and-such a date for possible rollout in your area' or 'maybe in a year', but like, don't even ask. So Echostar here I come, and I can get OLN, IFC and Sundance, which I have been missing, paying $15-20 a month less.
Yep, just spent 30 minutes with the Adelphia crew before they told me they didn't have enough space to put the games because of the HD contracts... lovely. Very frustrating as I've been able to get it the past 2 years and was a nice way to spend a Saturday evening. Oh, well... I guess between this and the lack of the NFL ticket, satellite is the way to go.
