The Dead Zone for American Sports Fans which occurs between the Super Bowl and the start of March Madness. What do you do to fill that time up?

(stolen topic from the Sports Guy over at ESPN Page 2)

As far as I'm concerned, crunch time in NCAA hockey is the best time of the year. The only thing better would be if we could mute Dick Vitale and get rid of March Crapfest altogether.

    Three words Westminster Dog Show!

This is nowhere near a down time for me - this is college hoops conference season. CBB begins in about September in my mind.

The worst time is coming this summer - an odd year - no big Intl soccer tournament.

With MLS, the Gold Cup, and the Confed Cup in France, what more could a soccer fan want? :D

Well NASCAR kicks off this week. Well it sorta started out this past Saturday with the Bud Shootout 250 but the format for that race is different than normal NASCAR races.

Just waiting for WUSA preseason training to kick off.

apparently there isn't a deadzone. Gotta love America where there are 5 million other kinds of sports to follow at given moment

that's pretty much what I was going to say. the dead zone problem doesn't really exist for fans. It's only a problem for lame-o journalists who are having a hard time filling up space in their columns and on their phone-in shows.

Personally, I have little sports-viewing time to spare, what with soccer and with Peter Gammons starting to do spring training reports.

Seriously - its just for people not opened minded enough to get into to sports from other cultures. I mean - there's a World Cup goin on right now! You may not understand the rules or the passion, but look into it and you might be intrigued.

Just a few minutes ago it was determined that one of the matches (Eng-Zimbabwe) will not take place where it was scheduled due to concerns over player safety. So many social and historic lessons can be learned if you open your eyes to other sports. In this case - effects of British colonialism & Zimbabwe's horrific recent history under Mugabe. Bit more intrigue in that than whether some dude will step aside to let some other dude start in a meaningless game - if you axed me.

Well, that's some breaking news. Sort of, since it's been in the cards for awhile.

Plenty! Ski, snowshoe, cross country ski, ride my bike. (It was warm enough to on Super Bowl Sunday).

Watch/follow sports: EPL, NHL gets good as the playoff drive begins, FSW, and I'll watch College Hoops too. I'm not as much into baseball anymore but will look at reports until the season starts.
