He’s not gonna be at RB past next June so wouldn’t bother with a new title

(which, btw, should be “Brendan gives you wings: Aaronson @ RB Salzburg)

Aaronson not in the squad for todays cup game against what I assume is a team Salzburg expects to roll over. Big to give him a rest after all minutes he has played so early in this new season.

I didn't watch the game, but the next best thing - Fotmob - says he played pretty well.

8.1 overall rating. 3 key passes. 65 touches - which is amazing considering the issues he has had so far with getting on the ball enough. Also 3 shots.

Other stats seem impressive too - 11/14 duels, 6/8 dribbles, dispossessed only once.

His touches, duels and dribbles tell me he is really going into the 10 role. Getting on the ball, AND being able to advance it on the dribble AND is getting more physical enough to win duels.

I thought he played well. 2 key passes, including the one that earned the first PK. Lots of hard running, lots of nice passes to continue breaks.

One interesting element is that according to fotmob he was only 4/13 on duels, and to the eye he was pushed off a few times, i remember two instances early second half he dribbled for too long and turned over the ball. it speaks to his growth that he was still effective despite this, but physicality is probably something he will always need to grow into based on his build.

For those that have seen him in detail, does he play out as a #10 for the USMNT?

On the physicality side he needs to strengthen his base, start to play lower and learn some combat tai chi or jujitsu, specifically how to receive and transfer incoming force.

He generally plays on the wing for the USMNT and I think that is a mistake. I would rather see him play 8 or 10. His best trait is receiving the ball in space... making a turn and providing a thru ball. His hustle would also help to cause turnovers in the midfield. He has been playing great soccer over the last month + for club and country.

I still think long term he could grow into a good 10 but right now he plays better at wing where he has more space. But he is playing 10 for his club, so give him a few more months and I think he could grow enough to give him another try at the 10 at the international level.

One of the games the USMNT played in the last window he played as one of the 3 CM's in a 4-3-3 while Gio played the wing. Aaronson was not effective in this role. GGG should of had the two switched.

Right, and the team played better (though it didn't show up in the scoresheet) when Aaronson went to the wing.

Moreover, it implies that he aspires to "be as good as Havertz." An unfortunate aspiration and almost certainly not true as (at least IMHO) he will soon surpass Havertz, if he hasn't already.

I've had Roku since moving to town 7 years ago and now I have one more reason to keep it - I get to see Medford Messi games. I haven't stepped up to buy the newest version (I have the latest before that one). It isn't expensive but I'm not unhappy with what I have. Anybody know if it is worth stepping up for the latest version? (Just waiting for the game to start here...)

Watching this game on FTF is like having an antenna that can't stay steady. A little breeze and you are watching a snippet of motorcycle racing. Not to mention the absolutely random "commercial breaks" with no advertising.

It's better than the janky streams of yesteryear, so I'll take it. Given it's the Austrian Bundesliga, it's kind of a blessing we can watch Salzburg games at all. Let alone in English and on a TV.

My favorite play was 1:23 - wins the ball back to Camara, who doesn't control it and goes down injured. Aaronson notices this and runs back to cover his area and ends up winning the ball again with an interception.
